ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Battery

Hi last night it got to about -15F last night with a wind chill of about -45F and when I went to start my car this morning I checked the voltage it was about 11 volts. The car would turn over really slow then it would click. I hooked up the booster pack and it fired right up. I bout the battery about 1 year 1/2 ago and it always started last year. I checked for a Parasitic Draw and there was nothing it read 0. Could it be the cold weather or something else. Everyone elses car started.

my mom's car seems to be a little slow in wanting to start after parking overnight also, since it's also been really cold here so this has lead me to think that it is the battery.

Where did you get the battery from?

Walmart not even a year and a half ago. I know they have the free 3 year replacement so I might try that. I went to VIP today and there there machine told me I needed to charge the battery. I said I had 254CCA when it should have 700CCA. I'm charging it now so I'll see and if I have to I go and get a new one from walmart tomorrow.

I just don't understand how a battery can die overnight without any draw.

      Maybe my alternator is slipping?

It could be the cold weather, or could be an interior light that's on. Like glove box light or overhead light or door panel light. Idk if u drive the car everyday or not. If you don't it would prolly be a good idea to start it daily. Another thing is maybe the alternator may not be charging enough. If the the alternator belt was slipping you would know it cause the belt would scream.

My moms DA9 loses charger after a few days of sitting because a blue light on her steering column stays on. The blue light is apart of her security system.

I have a little red light that stays on constant from my security system. Is there any way to get rid of it?

yes I do drive it everyday, and every time I go to restart it it turns slower then it should.

I believe you can carefully unscrew the light and unplug the light. U may wanna, when u get the car started, unhook the negative terminal from the battery, if your car dies than the alternator is bad. If your car staying running than alternator is fine.
My dad seems think its time for a new battery.

Have you checked the altanator ? Take it to a part store and they will check it for free . You could simply remove the negitive side termanal ever night before bed and hook it up every morng.

Hi I just finished charging the battery let it sit for about 30 minutes went out and it was at 12.5V a little bit low but still alright. When I cranked it it dropped to 10V then jumped to 14V. But I went for a ride tuned off the car and it was at 12.4V. That was lower then before.

Another thing I've noticed is that the headlights hesitate to turn on, then when I put on the turn signal the headlights flash out then back on. They also dim at idle then get brighter when accelerating. The blower motor does the same thing. Is this the alternator or battery?

have a mechanic friend, or a local shop? they should have a battery tester and it will put a draw on the battery and let you know if its good or not without even taking it out of the car.
