ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    hood is stuck

Guy I went to change my oil the other day pulled the latch and nothing. Noticed that there was a lot of play in it. I had my girl pull latch while I was pulling on the hood nothing its stuck. Any idea of how I can get it open?

A plasma cutter should do the trick. haha, seriously though did you take a flashlight and look to see if it's hung up on anything? Maybe its the cable you can pull manually with some needle nose pliers or something.

on a serious note though, it could be a snapped hood latch cable? I would get down to the linkage and where the cable runs to and see if it isnt busted somewhere

My hood is like this, all I have to do is pull up on the hood a bit and it pops up. But since mine isn't carbon fiber, it probably won't help.

Hope you get it without breaking anything.

I had a similar problem. My issue was rust.

The latch woundn't budge at all.

I kept pulling and pulling. Then I used a needle nose pliers, which stretch the cable a lot and popped the plastic hooks off.

I also began pushing up and down on the hood, prying it with a flat head between the hood and grill.

Eventually it popped up. If not my next step was to start cutting the grill, and then the plastic the covers the hood release.

Ok I got it. Some how the hood went behind the latch and got wedged in there. I had to keep pulling while pushing the latch out the way with a screw driver....

6" rule: Bring the hood to 6" from closed and drop it. That's all the force required. Let gravity work. Sounds like you went HULK on closing it at some point.

6" rule only counts on OEM steel hoods not carbon fiber hoods. You have to be gentle with then as slamming them down will create damage to the material holding the hood latch to the hood.

Highly advised to use hood pins as well regardless of how good your carbon hood is. Dont believe me? ask my sunroof why she so cracked!

Put it down real slow to semi-latch, then tap it with your bum.
