ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Rough idle

I cleaned my EGR ports and the last port I drilled, a piece of drill bit broke into the EGR port. I used a light and could not find the piece of drill bit in the port. I started my car and it ran and idled fine. Then yesterday, it started idle rough and sputters while driving. Could the piece of the drill bit be causing this or something else?

Pull the spark plugs and check which one is not firing well. Or replace all with new ones and see what happens. It may run well.

Small broken bit may have caused damage but let's not think about it for now. You may have gotten lucky, still.

i dont think a drill bit would cause that to happen. are you leaking oil into that cylinder?

Open the gap of #1 plug to proper gap. Take small magnet through the plug hole and see if you can fish out the broken bit. Put the plug back in then run the engine. Or, replace that plug. The engine should run good.

actually yeah. if that plug was bent like that then it wouldn't fire properly which would explain the heavy carbon and bad idle. if the drill bit is in the cylinder, then everything in there is probably trashed. messed up valves, scored combustion chamber, gouged pistons. easier to just replace the engine if thtas the case

Ok, I replaced all of the spark plugs and bought a magnet and tried to fish the drill bit out of the cylinder and nothing came out. I started the car up and let it idle for two minutes and it ran fine like nothing was wrong with it but I did not drive it. I was thinking of removing the cylinder head and removing the drill bit that way. What do you guys think??????

That's really unnecessary, pull all of your plugs and use the magnet in all the cylinders. If you find nothing, either you already ejected it out, or its stuck in the EGR passages. So at most i would remove the intake manifold and look in the ports.

If nothing came out of #1 cylinder, the bit is more than likely out of the cylinder. I would drive the car and see what else comes along.

This is what all four spark plugs look like after 12 miles of driving. And I idle the car for about 15mins and runs good and idle good. What yawl think I should do next? Just keep driving it and see what happens?

The manual is old and says to use ZFR6F spark plugs, so do these plugs still exist ?! or I can replace them a different number ?!
