this may be a stupid question, but after reading the diy for drilling and tapping the ports, Is there any reason I couldnt use some type of rubber stopper and some rtv sealant instead of tapping and using a pipe plug? the rubber stopper sounds much simpler.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

what happens when your rubber stopper gets sucked in. by the time your done siliconing them in and making sure you have no leaks you couldve already tapped them. cause you have get the drillings out either way. not trying to be a dck.Originally posted by MaximusFunk24 View Postthis may be a stupid question, but after reading the diy for drilling and tapping the ports, Is there any reason I couldnt use some type of rubber stopper and some rtv sealant instead of tapping and using a pipe plug? the rubber stopper sounds much simpler.

not a bad idea just not practical. it might work if you found a stopper that fits well enough and wouldn't get sucked in. you could also tap (thread) the holes and use bolts with Teflon and/or a rubber or plastic washer for a better seal. That way next time all you have to do is pull the bolts out. Just make sure you vacuum the metal shavings out after drilling the holes and after tapping (threading) the holes.Hey yo uhhhhhh fry man!!!!

I read how to DIY EGR ports code 12 ... however after drilling and cleaning how should I plug them back ?! what's the best way ...!? this is the only thing preventing me from attempting cleaning of EGR passages. Code 12 and car stalling is killing me !! .... HELP !!Originally posted by 92Inspire View Postnot a bad idea just not practical. it might work if you found a stopper that fits well enough and wouldn't get sucked in. you could also tap (thread) the holes and use bolts with Teflon and/or a rubber or plastic washer for a better seal. I read your post alrighty, however, is this guaranteed to use a bolt with a rubber washer ?! No leaks ?! ... could you post some pics or DIY about what you did ?! ... this is how I get motivated usually and attempt to try stuff on my car ... the family doesn't like what I am doing to my car even though I try to explain it.
