ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Some insights on Used Automatic Transmissions

Hi again. I want to know about use automatic transmissions and their associated parts. I have a really old one with about 333,000 miles on it. Now I know that they make these so called "rebuild kits" for them, but I have no idea if anyone has ever even done this before.

Since I am going to rebuild the engine in my car, is there a chance that my AT will blow up any time soon? It works just fine right now, may shift hard at times but its not bad, and "S" light came on for a bad speed sensor. The previous owner seemed to have taken good care of it.

I want to know if I can do anything now to prevent it from going bad after my engine rebuild. (That would stink). I know Lucas makes this outstanding AT fluid additive which has been hailed on Amazon by its reviewers.

I don't know about AT's. Is this a healthy concern for this old AT, or should I expect it to last well beyond the 333,000 miles?

Thanks you and have a good night.

    Mike.

if properly maintained the autos can last a long time. if abused they will fail. seeing as yours has that many miles on it and it still works id say it has been maintained. shifting hard is better than shifting soft. soft shifts mean things are worn out inside.

dont put additives in your transmission. ever. use only honda atf. nothing else. change the fluid every 15,000 or so.

if yours is working fine then id stick with it. it could blow up but you know it works. if you replace it with another you might be replacing it with crap that someone abused. i knew a girl that had a civic for 6 years and never changed the transmission fluid. when she did it was black and smelled burnt. i feel sorry for the poor fool that bought that car. i bet the trans died by now.

if you want to try a rebuild then get a used transmission and rebuild that. transmissions are complicated though. i wouldnt know where to begin!
