ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cb7 shifter in a cd5

Does anybody know if a shifter for an f22a1 manual would work for a cd5 accord with a f22b?

I know people have used CD shifters in CBs, so I assume it would work just fine the other way around. If they're not identical, they're similar enough to be interchangeable. Trying it won't hurt, even if it doesn't work properly.

Perhaps he wants to practice his technique and in case he messes up he has a back up...

Well if he's turning it into a short throw then he's going to have to reposition the fulcrum meaning he's going to be fabricating it from the materials he has. So if he messes up by placing it too high or low too many times he wouldn't have a very structurally intact shifter now would he?

Well for one thing you don't have to do all that to make a short throw in the CB. There is no fabricating anything really, all you are doing is unbolting and repositioning the cables and using some other materials here and there. They actual make one (if you can find it) for CB's. But its not like a Teg or Civic short throw where you replace the entire post, the CB post doesn't have anything to do with it.

If you are talking about making a "short" shifter (one with a shorter post) then you still don't have to reposition anything. All you do is cut down the post, quite easy really. You don't even have to take much of anything apart.

Cutting the lever itself does nothing at all.

An additional cable mounting point can be welded on without removing the original point. I have that exact thing in my car right now, in fact. I'm running on the stock point, as the shortened throw caused serious notchiness in my shifting. I nearly blew my engine when I couldn't tell the difference between 2nd and 4th when racing. Top of 3rd to 2nd gear should've bent valves. I got lucky. A number of people have done the same and weren't so fortunate.

A short shift adapter is much easier to use, and it accomplishes the same thing... with greater adjustability, in fact.

It may not shorten your throw, but that hasn't stopped people from doing it. Mostly for cosmetic purposes I would assume.

I wonder how many people cut the lever expecting it to shorten the throw...
