ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    starting issue

OK guys i have a problem with my car staring.
    1. i try to start the car by turning the key nothing happens [no click, no effort of the engine trying to turn over, nothing] so i had to pop start it to get home.
    2. I thought it was the starter so i bought 1 and put it in same thing happened so i took a wire straight from the battery and put power to the solenoid nd it turn the engine over. So after that i put the old starter back in and did the same thing and it turned the engine over again.

now my question is what might be the problem? please help

Sounds to me like your alternator isn't charging the current. Autozone can check to see if your alternator is running properly

      I don't think it's an alternator issue.

The alternator is fine... So I was doin a lil research and I came across some info that said it might b the ingnition switch. I just bought 1 from the job and plugged it in and nothing happened so now I'm really lost. I confirmed that the starter is good and now it seems that the ignition switch is also good... Can some 1 point me in Wat direction I should go next

Did you check starter cut off relay and circuit?
If your car's AT, I think there a sensor for shift knob position some place.
If it is MT, there's a switch located on clutch pedal.

They are wondering if it is an automatic transmission or a manual transmission. Each type has a differant location for a type of switch that if your car is not in Park or Neutral on an auto or you are not pushing the clutch to the floor in a manual the starter will not engage. If your battery has enough Juice that when you cross your starter it starts than I would look for a wiring issue. If it's an auto try putting it in neutral to start it instead of park. My auto had a shiftlock with a key, luckily the previous owner left the key in the lock for me I had this problem before too, would have to smack the shifter or put it in neutral to start it.

It's a manual nd I figured out what's wrong. I went and got a new clutch safety switch nd put it it and it would not work so I took a paper clip and bridged the plug and the car started so I took the old switch out and held the bottom and started the car. So after some more looking around and inspection I noticed that the thing that pushes the bottom wasn't there anymore so all I have to do is just put something in the hole like a screw or a rubber stopper.

By the way thanks for the help guys ^_^

What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Having wiring diagram and perform troubleshooting is far easier than running a new wire, for me.

OP: Good job. Was it hard to do?

This thread is just about a year old and I'm having the same issue. It just happened last night. I noticed after reading up on here I went to check the neutral safety switch and the black pin is there and there were 2 pieces of blue plastic on the floor. I take it those pieces are from the switch?

                          I commend you for searching

The plastic is not from the switch. Its where the switch hits the plastic. Make sure its not in gear and push in the switch with your finger, I bet it will start. The part is cheap from the dealer.

And Its actually called the clutch switch.

                            Thanks

I tried that and it wont start I even took it off the clutch bracket and took a paper clip and connected the 2 and still nothing. I'm not getting voltage to the starter at the signal wire either.

Ok if your not getting voltage to the starter signal wire then do this. From the ignition switch harness that connects to the fusebox, or wherever you can get access...find the thick black and white wire. Test that line when you crank the car, do you get voltage or no?

And im not exactly familiar with the manuals, but don't they have 2 switches? One to show a release, and one to show full depress?
