ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    fuel pump replacement

I was driving up a hill today and my car died, it didnt sputter, it just died.
it wouldnt restart , although it tried. I think the fuel pump died i cant hear it turn on and it was sounding unusually loud before this happened,
my main question is do i have to drop the tank to replace the pump?

Actually i have an older friend that decided to go through the floor of his trunk to get to the pump. He found the exact spot and used some kind of high speed rotary tool to cut the metal. He then cleaned up the metal, used some silicone and then got some sheet metal to cover the hole again. I forget how he secured the sheet metal though.

Damn, really? I thought there was an access panel in the trunk underneath the carpet, that's how we got to the pump on my moms dodge neon. Guess that feature didn't cross over to Honda back in the 90's

There is a access panel but it doesnt go to the pump, it goes to the fuel level float or whatever its called.

Ah, and I thought it was that easy, not having to drop the tank. I read some where that you could access it through the trunk area.
                I guess more work then.

What does that mean? There's an easier way other dropping the tank?
                  Thanks.

its easy enough to drop...unless you have a full tank in there

No, what I meant was doing all that cutting and bullshit to get access to the pump is not even necessary. Everybody acts like dropping the tank is such a bitch when in actuality its not even that hard at all. I did the shit by myself with just a floor jack on the street... Trust me, it seems intimidating but its really pretty simple.

Lol, exactly. And there is a drain plug on the tank anyways so having gas in the tank isn't really a problem either.

Drain plug, so some one can unplug the tank and you can't drive the car. Lol.
