ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    coolant disapearing??

i have a 91 accord ex five speed. every week i have to fill the coolant and i have no idea why. can anybody tell me all the possible reasons why. also im burning oil so will replacing the rings cure the oil issue?

    Hmmm...

This can be easy or hard.... Do you see any coolant dripping from the radiator or from under the engine anywhere after filling it up and running it? Is your cap new? Do you blow white smoke out from the exhaust? Look for leaks and puddles when you park..... Is your oil and coolant resevoir normal color?....If not it could be something worse.....

Smoke blue or white? Put a good size piece of cardboard under the engine overnight, this should tell you if you have a non pressurized leak.

If you can not find a leak in the system running or by the way i said above, i would suggest you have a leak down test done. You could have an internal coolant leak (Blown head gasket, cracked head, or warped head/block deck) also the leak down test will help find the culprit of the oil burning be it a valve related issue or piston/ring's.

        Watch your fluids...

Difference in color or bubbling of lfuids can indicate a head gasket.......There is a perfect test for exactly what the problem is....I am a "backyard" mechanic and they say a "yarder" can't leakdown a car...funny... just check basic fluid color first...and any abnormal leaks and post back...

can be a bad radiator cap as well. In the morning with the car cold, make sure the radiator is full. Then fill up the resavor to the lower mark.

Drive it around for a while so that the thermostat opens. You will notice that the coolant level rised. it Should be near the mAx. If not add some till its to the max. Let the car cool down for a few hours and check the resavor, if it went down a little thats fine. But keep the fluid level just a hair above the low line.

Do the same thing for the next few days until you dont add much any more. Some coolant loss is normal. But do get a new OEM cap, they dont last more than a few years.

If you think its a head gasket do a leak down test. however I never personally seen a headgasket issue without seeing overheating issues.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

i have the same symptoms as you in both my cars the first one i could not find the culprit but it finaly lead me to the head gasket and also a cracked head the new car has a small leak in the #3 cylnder , my oil is leaking into the water . i suggest checking the radiator cap and getting a leak down test performed if you do not know how to do this yourself and also try what other members have suggested as well and let us know what you have observed .

i have the same problem, i replaced radiator, cap, some hoses, checked oil and there is no signs of any problems there. looks like there might be a leak around the water pump but not really for sure. i just dont know where its going.
