ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

The build the guy used is actualy one I want to do but the limited availability of E85 here makes it a PITA. Not to mention that a build like that would be unuseable on pump gas since I'd be running 10.5:1 CR.
Shit I've bent forged rods like that, lol. Those are d series rods. I'm talking about f22 accord rods, or h22 oem rods bending. I think other shit usually fails first, and they ditch the rods during a rebuild.

I think they'd be just fine for a dsm/budget boost setup with forged pistons.

IMO, if you're going to go through the effort and expense of ripping apart an engine and replacing the internals, why not do it with brand new higher quality stuff?

I suppose that's from the point of view of someone that has never actually built an engine, though. To me, it seems to be a lot of work, and not exactly a cheap ordeal. If a few hundred dollars more will give me something that will definitely hold up, definitely fit, and give me no problems installing... it'd be my choice.
I've learned over the years that it is unwise to cut corners on anything that will prove to be a greater inconvenience or expense if that shortcut fails.

Honestly if he wants to swap anything out he should throw an srt motor in there the civic did it and youll have the torque to match it.

I don't see the point of swapping in engines from other makes. If you put an SRT motor in there, you might as well just buy an SRT! (that's one reason I don't care for the FR-S... it has a Subaru engine... it's a Subaru!)

Because there's a direct correlation between swapping in a fully built motor that is designed for the car and shoehorning in a motor that doesn't match anything remotely related to the vehicle.

I'm sure there are plenty off-the shelf kits to match up Honda transmissions and whatnot. Please provide links!

Honestly, with a standalone fuel management system, custom mounts, wiring, axles, fuel and coolant lines... swapping in an engine from another brand is not really that much different from swapping in a K or J series.

Let's be honest here though. How long did it take a professional shop to get a J/K motor into these cars?

The comment was if the OP wants to swap motors, might as well swap an SRT motor. Without existing kits, that's like saying, I think I'm gonna go for a run today, and the run being the New York Marathon.

Is it impossible, no...but it's tenfold more difficult than any normal swap done on these cars, such as any F/H motor.

Who knows if the SRT motor will even physically fit into the bay. The F/H trans won't hold up to that much torque for too long either.

Because most would rather slap a kit on and blow up a stocker than spend thousands to build an engine and blow it up aswell. You can very well argue both sides until you're blue in the face. But something i've always noticed usually after that stocker gives way they might try it one more time, but in the end they either give up or give in.

Sure, but the point of a forum like this is to educate people. If you KNOW you're going to blow a stocker, and you choose to do it anyway (as I was planning to do myself a few years ago), that's one thing. But if you think slapping a $500 turbo kit on a stock 20 year old engine is going to result in a reliable daily driver, you've got another thing coming.

People can do as they wish. I just try to do my best to inform them of the risks before they waste their money and blow up their only ride to work!

Exactly you can't expect a 200k+engine under extreme conditions plus boost to last forever, but IMO a $200 engine on standby and the learning process done on a relatively stock engine is a good way to go about. If you have the knowledge time and money chances are you wouldn't be asking about it in the first place. I went mild on my build because i know it will eventually go and i wanted to do it this way, but 95% of that will be N/A and only sprayed ever so offten. If someone has a low mileage F and doesn't go power happy it could very well last a good bit because alot has to do with the owner and the shape the engine was in to start with.

Most just are after POWAAAAAAA thats the biggest issue. You're in the right by suggesting a decent build 100%, but lets be honest most never do what they say they're going to do and learning hands on and the hard way can be the best way.
