I'm looking into the idea of fabbing my own front engine mount/torque rod. I'm thinking either some sort of pneumatic or spring resistance type device. Although not the typical beginner question, my posts are limited to here for now. Question is this, How much force (hereabouts) is applied to the front torque rod under acceleration events? (and by how much will that increase from NA to FI?) Approximations or better yet, a link to the how and the why of it would be great.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I cant give you any numbers but in the past i swore i saw a guy who was running a turbo fab up a front mount basically consisting of something that looked like a spring/dampener from a rear section of a mountain bike. Its been forever since ive seen the guy post but maybe you can head over to the forced induction area and browse around.
I think his name was Chessboxer or something like that but he was from Lexington.
*edit
HEY it's your lucky day i found his DIY.

A "shock" type device mounted to the firewall could be useful for this... though regular engine movement would be necessary to allow, and the mounting point would likely need to be reinforced.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone has measured the actual force applied to the front mount... or has the means to.

Although I do need to replace the rear one too, my focus is on the front right now because with my 'soon to be' setup, the OEM one won't go back where it came from. And I'm looking to restrict the motor's movement, but in a fashion so as not to sacrifice too much ride quality. I am of the opinion that no matter what, a car should stick to the road, like white on rice. But to do so and maintain a comfortable ride, that's just high quality, grade A craftsmanship/forethought.Originally posted by Sordz View PostThat design is backwards because the front of the motor lifts. You would be better off making a solid front mount or better yet focusing on the rear mount.
