ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cyp sensor code 09

I bought a 92 accord and it turned out to have an intermittent issue. I didn't know about it becuase they smashed the check engine lamp. What it does is, every once in a while when started, will stutter at low rpms, especially from a stop. I finally figured out the check engine lamp was out and figured out I had code 9. I checked the resistance at the ecu and it was within spec and has no shorts, so I replaced the ecu. The previous owner put a new distributor on it and was messing with the cyp wires, which makes me think that is why they replaced the distributor. Is there anything else that could cause these issues and code 9. When I clear the ecu, the check engine comes on immediatelyafter starting the car. It doesn't wait until there is symptoms

Chances are, the sensor is shot. Replacing the dizzy is your best bet, even if the previous owner already did (many replacements are remanufactured units, and often defective right out of the box... I've had my share of such things!)

Can I replace the sensor, if I could find one? I had it apart today and it looked like it could

Anything can be replaced, but I believe this is one thing that is beyond the skills of most people. Replacing the entire distributor is how just about everyone fixes the problem, I believe. I don't have any personal experience with it, so I'd wait for someone else to chime in to confirm what I'm saying (or to call me an idiot... it happens...)

It looked like it was just a couple screws holding it in, I couldn't tell though

Is there anything else that could give code 9, besides disty, wiring, and ecu?

That's really it, as far as I know.

Go to hondaautomotiveparts.com and see if you can order the sensor separately. Very often, you can't buy a replacement part from Honda if it's something that shouldn't be replaced by itself (front upper ball joints are an example of this.)

i figured out, the reason its not sold by itself is because it is built in to the distributor wiring harness. To replace it by itself you must splice wires. Id like to try that, to see if it solves by problem.

Anyone have a busted distributor that they could salvage the sensor for me? Id gladly pay for it

Additionally, offering free parts is also not allowed. I understand that there is no harm in giving something away... but people will inevitably ask for items to be shipped, and then there is money involved. Keep it to the classifieds.

I read that newbies weren't allowed to buy/sell, but i had thought it was to keep spam to a minimum. It wasn't until i reread the rules (as per your instructions) that i realized it was so stringent. My apologies.
