ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

All Exterior Lights on All the Time

    Hey everyone,

I apologize if this has been addressed somewhere, but I searched and couldn't find any threads. Essentially all my exterior running lights come on as soon as the parking break is released when I start the car. The light switch really only turns on/off my gauge cluster lights. Not that I don't like having my lights on all the time 'for safety', I would prefer being able to have the lights off if need be.

All the fuses seem to be good, and my mechanic couldn't determine the issue. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

    Thanks!

He's in Ontario, so it is most likely the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) that came on the Canadian models...

I thought DRLs were only the front headlights, not the taillights as well?

All 1990 Canadian CB's were like that. My coupe is like that and I hate it.

91-93 Canadian cars use only the high beams at a lower output as DRLs, where the 1990 cars use the full lighting system for some reason.

I'll need to ask Lucifer1 again, because he knows how to bypass this. Something about cutting a wire from the kick panel fuse box, and grounding it elsewhere or something.

Ah that makes sense then, I was going to mention that I've seen other CB7s that were driving around without the lights on.

I don't think I want to start cutting wires :P My car is starting to make weird clicking sounds from the gear lever, I'm starting to get very paranoid about it.

                  Auto or manual?

If it's auto, when in park and you push the brake pedal, it'll make a clicking noise before shifting out of park. That's normal. If it's a 5 speed, clicking noises could be worn bushings or cables, or something come loose inside the shifter assembly. They are very easy to replace.

It's automatic, yes. I do hear it now only when the car is in park, break gets depressed then doesn't happen again. I noticed it started on Friday if I turned the car's ignition to 'on' without turning over the engine. As long as it's normal then it's alright with me. New sounds in a new car, better ask than be sorry later Thanks again for the help!

Main relay under the dash clicks pretty loud it might be what your hearing.

That could be it. I remember in the automatics I've had, if you push the brake while it's in park it'll make a loud single click each time you push the pedal.

I can't recall if the click came from under the dash or from the gear selector.

Yea thats normal on automatics to click at the gear selector because when you press the break the mechanism unlocks it so you can take it out of park. Im pretty sure it wasnt loud when it was new but with our cars being 20+ years old alot of parts are getting worn out.

I think you're right. My father's 92 Vigor started doing that a year ago when the break was depressed. I didn't hear it today, but like I said as long as it doesn't mean there's a problem then I'm fine with it clicking.
