ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Weird clicking when braking

Hey Guys, Im new to the site and I when I was driving the other day. I noticed that when I brake, I hear a clicking noise. It's not a sound that comes from outside the cabin, it seems to originate from inside toward the passenger side of my cabin. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it is?

Maybe your break pads are that low on friction material. Try changing them first then go from there.

Sorry I didn't mention, I have changed the pads already and resurfaced the rotors. its weird because its a loud click sound that sounds like its coming from the passenger side. Like its IN the cabin. I know I'm probably sounding confusing. maybe Ill take a vid

Do a visual inspection for the area in question. Also you may want to check brake area for foreign debris or a tool that may be forgotten (u never know, sometimes it happens)

^ yeah do this. Maybe the retaining clips aren't staying on. Mine fell out one day and i just got some nice ones from the junkyard. Try moving things by hand and see if anything is loose or not lining up.

That clicking sound might from under your gear box. Do you have auto? Mine clicks when I press on the brake pedal. It's a safety lock at the gear box. Mine only clicks when I press on the brake pedal to move the gear from park. Other than that, I don't notice it when I am driving. I have heard clicks from our car with the brake pedal switch. It some times click pretty loud when it's old. A little lube like WD-40 might help with this one.
Did you lube your sliders pins when you did your pads? Some times those click when they are not lube up good.

I think you may be right. I will look closely to see if it happens when I switch gears. And yes I do have an auto. I will try your guys' methods. Thanks a bunch!

make sure the brake shims on the back of the pads didn't shift. I had some EBC Green stuff pads that the shims shifted and were hitting the rotor making a clicking noise
