Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    91 Ex stalls while driving

    First thread.
    So I've had my car for about 6 months now and it recently started breaking down on me which isn't very helpful considering I have a 6 day old son that needs most of my attention now.
    Ok so my car started running poorly about 2 weeks ago trying to bog out while accelerating and "jumping" if you will down the road. I drove it like that for about 30 mins and then let my car sit. This was right after I changed the plugs and wires. I changed the distributor cap and rotor button the next morning and car was running great for about a week then I had my son and was in the hospital for 3 days.
    Now when I'm driving it wants to start losing acceleration and then stalls out and everything locks up, power steering, brakes, etc. I'm thinking its gotta be overheating or somethin because ill let it sit, wherever it leaves me stranded, for about 30 mins or longer and it'll fire right up.
    I work 2-12 7 days a week and cannot afford to be without transportation.
    Recent maint. Has been oil and filter change, clutch slave cylinder replaced, plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor button, radiator bypass hose changed. I can't think of anything else right at the moment.
    There will be a new serp. belt put on soon.
    Anyone else have similar problems before?

    Ok, first thing is to check your gauge cluster. If it's overheating, the temp gauge will show it. Does the temp gauge go into the red zone?
    Next, is your check engine light on? If so, look in the thread at the top of this section called "read here first" (nobody ever does). That will tell you how to diagnose the error code that light is giving you.

    There are plenty of other possibilities, but start with those things. We can dig deeper if necessary. I don't want to start throwing possibilities at you, or you'll end up replacing a ton of things on a wild goose chase.

      The cluster has been messed up since I first got the car the speedo, odometer, and gas gauge don't work properly. The thermostat never goes above halfway, but it too could also be iffy. The check engine light usually likes to illuminate when I'm downshifting and coming to a stop. It only comes on if I'm driving the car like sh**. Other than that the only time it comes on now is when it stalls out.

        Follow above advise ... check the codes and come back. I have a felling they are going to help reveal what the problem is...

          Considering how much you have to use the car for work and have a newborn and whatnot you should probably replair or replace the cluster. Thats an important instrument to have working properly. There could be all types of shit wrong with your car (overheating, low gas, etc) and you wouldn't ever know it.

            Might be a good idea too check your grounds as well as the ecu codes, seems like you might have an intermittent ground issue, heat can effect so so ground connections. At the ripe age of 21 i too had a few loose grounds/corrosion issues.

              Ok, so my bay is pretty filthy and I realized I'm missing air boost valve? and someone before me put in a cold air intake and im missing my intake control solenoid valve so my vaccum from the fuel injector goes to nothing..
              Car overheats after like 15 mins of driving. i dont think my fans turn on at all anymore. my alternator is filthy and covered with who knows what..
              Went out this morning and tried to start her for the first time in 3 days. I charged the battery for about 20 mins and started her. Sounded good for a couple minutes but then it sounded like poo.

                  Would you like to replace that cluster so we can properly help you diagnose your problem? Or would you prefer that we just throw random guesses at you, so you can replace a bunch of parts that may or may not fix the issue?
