ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

You know the pictures would've been equally effective had the car been parked, right? Why risk taking them while driving?
Also, why did you make another thread about a short shift adapter, when you already have one going?

Still... it's a short shift adapter. We've all read the DIYs. We all know what they do. I don't see the point of this thread.

I was just seeing if you guys thought that this was going to work alright. I did it a little bit different than the DIY tutorial.

Hah, you're not the only one.

I want to see a DIY on using steel plate stock and a stock shifter and converting it into a short throw. It would need all of the geometry math and the physics as well, otherwise it would again be just another short shift thread.

I have no idea. So long as that clamp is tight (I would use hex-headed bolts rather than long machine screws), then I don't see it going anywhere. I'm curious as to why first is any more difficult than fifth, or even third.

If it's difficult to get into ANY gear, adjust it. Damage could result from improper shifting. I'm quite sure a short shifter did damage to my own transmission... and I will never use a short shifter again!

In that case, you might want to consider changing your fluid. GM Synchromesh would be a wise choice.

alright awesome thanks! i think im just gonna take this stupid thing off. I cant drive with a clear conscience, because i always feel like its gonna fall off or im gonna break something. It has been pretty cool these past few days though. I just wish i could actually find a short shifter for this car.

A "short shifter" will do EXACTLY what you did there... just for a shitload more money. All it does is relocate the cable mounting point. That's all you CAN do with a cable shifter.
Notchy shifting is WAY slower than long shifting, and far more harmful.
If you're racing (on a track, I hope), and you top out 3rd only to slam it into 2nd instead of 4th (a common problem with a short shifter), you could blow your engine.

ohhhh ok. well thanks man you just saved me a bunch of money. haha and yeah that makes sense. After taking it off it went for a drive and my car shifts like butter now, hardly any problems with 1st. I also put a cd5 shift knob and boot on and it feels a million times better.

It's much easier, and safer, to just swap in a shifter plate from a BB4 Lude (92-96). It's physically shorter and offers a shorter throw.

Sorry to bring up an old post over a transmission fluid..

But in the past i've just used 10w-30 in my f22a 5speed tranny.
Honda Spec's, Can you feel a difference with Synchromesh ?

I desire a shorter shift myself but I'm a little scared to try this method. Do we have any other options? I've tried to locate a prelude shifter in junkyards but I haven't found 1 yet.
