ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Idle Problems

Hello My 1992 accord lx automatic has been having idle problems, when i start it, RPMs will shoot to a little over 2000, fall to 1500, and the cycle goes on . This is all before the car warms up. I hadn't really looked into it because the car is usually fine while in drive or reverse, but yesterday as i was replacing a few hoses here and there i decided to change the hoses attached to the fast idle thermo valve. As we wrestled the tiny hoses off we noticed the the small pipes where the hoses connect were completely eaten away and clogged with dirt. In our attempt to get the other hose off one of the calcium ridden pipes broke off . I am going to replace the fast idle thermo valve in the next couple of days by going to a junkyard and hopefully finding a replacement unless there is some other cheaper way you guys might know about. Has the fast idle thermo valve been the source of all my idling problems?

^~ Yes, I would say it has been the problem with your idle surging.

Just replace it. No need to "ghetto" rig it.

i was having that problem replace that one if its not that then its going to be either the one to right or left from it and let me see if i can get a picture of the other part that can cause the car to go like that

If a fast idle thermo valve is the same thing as a fast idle control valve then there is your culprit.
......father in law has it back again. Time to shine

Another cause of your idle issues is the fact you opened your cooling system and most likely didn't bleed it.

If you want a "cheap" fix, delete the coolant hoses from the FITV and IACV. Then loop the coolant lines on the t stat housing. Then you still need to open the FITV and tighten the white plunger inside.

Your right, i didn't bleed it as i should have. Hmm deleting them huh, i like the sound of that. I'm not a mechanic by any means so could you delve into how id bypass the FITV and IACV with some more detail

Definitely yes, this causes your idle surging problem now. It's better to buy from the junkyard, replace it and connect the hose.
