ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Want a short throw shifter in my 1991 ex coupe

Would like to put a short throw shifter in my 1991 coupe ex five speed but it seems that no one makes one specific for the year any suggestions

i want to do the same. i think Neuspeed makes the only real short shift adapter.
i hear bad tings about the ebay OBX adapter so i wouldnt recommend.

you can get an early prelude shifter and use that. I can't really say that it's a "short throw shifter" but it's.. notchier.

+1 for the prelude shifter. Makes driving the car so much more enjoyable.

To be specific, you want the shifter from a 92-96 Prelude. It IS a shorter throw and a shorter height than the CB7 shifter.

            They are pretty much identical.

Shortening the throw of a CB shifter results in notchy shifting, and the lever will hit the side of the shift bucket when pushed into 5th gear. EVERY method of shortening the shift shy of modifying the bucket and the shifter itself will do this.
I nearly blew my H22 because of the notchiness of my short shifter. I couldn't tell the difference between upshifting from 3 to 4, or slamming it into 2nd from the top of 3rd.

Short throw shifters tend to be hard on the syncros.

              Just throwing it out there.

So, would it be beneficial then to do this modification since it may cause problems, or leave well enough alone and just stick with stock?

It really all depends on what you want to do, If you are going to race the car, it may very well be beneficial, if not, well again it's up to you.

My shifter is stock now. My transmission is damaged. My engine, thankfully, survived a near-10,000RPM jolt.

There is no way in hell I'd install a short shifter on my car again. I don't need to shift any faster than I can with the stock shifter.

I got my shifter cut and welded. Its not a shorter throw, but feels more comfortable. XD
