ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Odometer and Trip Not Working

My odometer has stopped counting at about 305,280. The trip also stopped and I have tried to reset it many of times. All the other gauges and lights in the cluster still work fine. I don't believe it is the VSS. Any suggestions? I would really like to keep the same mileage reading. Thanks in advance.

yes, everything else works; gas gauge, tach, speedo, temperature gauge, and all the lights work. The odometer and trip are the only things not working.

It could be broken connections on the board of your cluster. There are a few DIYs' on this site if you decide to take it out and take a look.

Well this changes everything... It randomly started counting again... Any new suggestions on what is wrong with it?

Pull out the cluster and check the connectors, its maybe just a loose wire od a bad contact

stopped counting again... I don't know. Does removing the cluster involve removing the entire black part of the dash (where the radio is all the way up to the sunroof button? It looks like one piece of plastic.

Either the cluster itself is bad or the motor that turns the odometer is bad

there are no other possibilities. The odometer and trip odometer are powered by the same motor which is plugged into the gauge cluster and operates off of the same signal as the speedometer. If the speedometer works and the odometer doesn't then that means that theres an issue with the board of the gauge cluster or the motor itself. So to determine which one, get a new gauge cluster and swap your odometer onto it, if the problem persists its the odometer, if it doesn't then it was the board. To do a control test just put in a whole complete gauge cluster first and then perform the above test.

So I pulled my cluster today, what a pain... Anyway, I disassembled it and found nothing that looked wrong. I unplugged the motor that runs the odometer and cleaned the contacts, and put it back together. it still did not work, for a minute at least, but it all of a sudden started counting again... So I am leaning towards a bad motor... Any opinions?
