Hey guys, a few weeks ago my hood-cable snapped and I can't seem to figure out how to open the hood. Is there a trick to it? I poked around a lot around the latch with a screw driver but couldn't seem to make it pop.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Opening hood without cable

Do you happen to know where it snapped?
This happened to a Focus that belonged to a friend of mine. I was able to pull the splash guard back in front of the tire and cut the release cable there. I pulled it through a couple clips to give some slack, then stripped the sheathing off a couple inches of it. That let me get a set of pliers on the cable itself and pull from there to open the hood.

As they said just pull out the driver's side splash guard (all you need is a screw driver), locate the cable hopefully before the damaged spot and pull on the actual cable not the black shield around it. and bam you got yourself an opened hood!Hoonigan: a person who participates in any type of reckless driving including but not limited to drifting, drag racing, burnouts, doughnuts as well as acts of automotive aeronautics.

when my rex had this problem i got some dykes and cut the cable where i could see it thru the grill, ripped off the sheathing and used vise grips to grab the bit of steel wire to pop the hood. eventually became tired of this paid the 20 or 30 bucks for a new cable from the dealer and spent about 70 mins changing it, first time..wasnt bad and felt so good when I pulled the latch when i was done. if you havnt snapped it yet you might get away with soaking the latch in penetrating oil and trying,if not the cables rusted in its sheath and itll need replaced unless you can get it out unscathed and recondition it
