ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Tokico Struts??

My friend told me that Tokico struts could be used with ebay adjustable springs. And that tokico are gas struts that are made to withstand the amount of pressure an ebay spring has.. I had my ebay springs for a few months now and never installed them yet. If the Tokico struts are strong enough i will buy them

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. A shock can have a given spring rate/vehicle weight that it was designed for but if you lower the vehicle beyond its usable range all of that goes out the window.

First, which Tokico shocks are you referring to? It matters. However, neither of them were designed for a drop beyond 2". They will stress prematurely and they will fail very soon. They simply weren't designed to be compressed that far.

Another issue with your intended goal is that you're using junk generic springs found on eBay. The crappiness of these products is well-documented. The advertised(if they even are) spring rates are unreliable. You can be as stiff a hard tail motorcycle or you can bounce down the road like a dribbling basketball. You may have one spring within a set that's overly stiff but the other three are incredibly soft. They're junk and they can make for a dangerous ride.

Please stop cheaping out on suspension stuff. You're buying junk components to incorporate into a system that is required to function properly in order to keep you and those who surround you on the roads safe. These generic components are very likely to fail horribly and if you or one of your passengers don't suffer the consequences of that then someone near you might.

Rethink your plans and decide that it's worth it to not cheap out in the name of looking like a baller in your old Accord slammed to the ground.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Anything below 1 inch on tokico blues is a no go. Tokicos are more flexible than the credit often givin on here though. I have personaly used eibach springs two and a half inch drop on tokico blues for years. Really the shocks handled it well, it was not too bouncy and rode well and would have been perfect other than having too much travel for that drop. Meaning at full extension the spring floated only in the rear and I mean it had to be a huge bump though. Really it cocked sideways on the bottom perch one time, the car had been completly off the ground. That sort of thing is unsafe as can be however the shock itself never failed. The tokico blue is more of a stock replacement than a drop shock. The tokico shock really only works with the tokico spring. While durable just can't go low safely.

People have gotten away with Tokico blues or KYB GR2s with a drop and not noticed any major problems... but that is often due to ignorance, or the fact that they never had to rely on the suspension in an emergency (sudden braking, hard cornering, etc...)

RoseRoyce, the only Tokico shock that is going to suit your needs will be the Illumina. In my opinion, those are inferior to the Koni Yellow, and nearly as expensive... so I don't see the point in going Tokico.
Also, I'd suggest not using those ebay coils. Don't cheap out on your suspension. If it fails, you crash. If you crash, you will certainly damage your car... maybe yourself... maybe someone else. That will be MUCH more expensive than simply modifying your suspension properly from the start!

There are many discussions on here regarding suspension. Educate yourself before you put yourself at risk.
