ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Ebay Godspeed Camber Kits

Since being lowered and having put new tires on recently, I figured that I would get an alignment. Questions:

    1. Are camber kit necessary? I'm running Skunk2 lowering springs, and I am seeing negative camber in how it sits.

    2. Would a normal alignment correct this?

    3. in your opinion, would these ebay kits be a viable option?

Yes, a camber kit is necessary to prevent uneven tire wear. Many people will say otherwise. They are wrong.
A "normal" alignment (assuming you mean a toe alignment) will not correct camber. You will need a camber kit for the camber to be adjustable. If the camber is adjustable, and your alignment tech is aware of it, then they can set the camber properly.
"ebay" kits should be avoided at all costs. I nearly lost my car, possibly my life, due to such a kit breaking. I would never trust anything but Ingalls or SPC now. My life isn't worth saving a few bucks!

Also, Skunk2 makes terrible suspension components for our cars. I'm assuming since you haven't mentioned your shocks that you're running on stock shocks. That is also very unsafe. You'll need at least some Koni Yellows to handle those awful springs.

Yeah..Im seriously thinking about going back with my stock springs. Although it looks nice, I'm starting to hate the ride. Slamming on brakes every time a bump comes up, is getting played out! lol

Thanks, I think you helped me off the fence about switching back, for now.
I figured I'd start this project with the suspension. The goal for the suspension is to have a balance btw performance and comfort.

I'd rather drive a slow car to the limit, than drive a fast car limited! (if that makes sense) lol

By lowering on stock springs, you've lowered the limit considerably. Slammed on crap springs and stock shocks, you'll be lucky if you can maintain control of your car if an emergency arises. An example that I've used far too often (because too many people don't understand the importance of a proper suspension setup) is that of a child chasing a ball into the street. If your suspension isn't up to the task, you won't be able to swerve or brake to avoid that child. As it is now, your car will handle and stop considerably worse than in stock form at the limits.

Everyone seems to start with suspension, and it is quite possibly the one single most important thing on your car in terms of safety... yet everyone wants to go cheap. Expect to spend a minimum of $700 to properly lower your car, if you're buying new parts.

          Would you recommend coilovers?

I'm not a fan, as I don't have the need, knowledge, or tools to properly adjust them... but a quality set of coilovers isn't bad. There are plenty of decent options, but lots of crap as well.
The only coilover sleeves I'd trust are Ground Control, paired with Koni Yellows.
For full coilovers, I'd only trust H&R, Tein, Function and Form Autolife, and maybe Megan Racing. Things like D2, Ksport, Blackworks... I wouldn't trust those.

Full coilovers, not sleeves. And then plan for bushings, ball joints and end links that you'll find once you're in there. It's really not something you should plan to do on the cheap.

Suspension, brakes, tires. Those things should always be done with care and quality parts, with safety in mind.

You can halfass pretty much anything else, and the only real risk will be to reliability.

Those ebay camber kits are no good . I bought a pair ,put them on and drove off. Ten minutes later i came back home and took them off because of the smacking sound they made. A friend of a friend begged me for them and with no hesitation i gave them to him.2 days later , he calls me screaming and pissed off because the camber adjusters let loose and the wheel dragged under the car. Lesson learned

LOL...with just these few horror stories, I KNOW I'm putting the stock springs back on, until I can get the right components.

God Speed is no different than regular ebay stuff. Turbos and all. They just give it a name and people think that because it has a name its not cheap ebay stuff.

I have properly matched springs and shocks (Neuspeed Sport and Koni Yellows)

                            Coilover sleeves:

                            Full coilovers:

So you'd rather put together your struts and springs instead of full coilovers? Whàt if you wanted to go lower or raise it??
