ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    electrical issues

Ok so I bought a 91 ex after figuring out the rust was too far gone on my 92. The guy I bought it from said that the car had a transmission issue. (Stuck in limp mode) he had taken out the dash and swapped the tcu. He said he had taken out the dash to trace down why the position indicator wasn't working. Anyway, so I pick it up take out the tech and sure enough, it had a capacitor that was fried. I replaced the capacitor and the s light stopped blinking. Around this time I figured out that the key would not come out when the battery was hooked up. As soon as you disconnect the battery or disconnect the key lock solenoid or the interlock control unit the key will turn to 0 and come out. Upon further investigation the car was missing the shift lock solenoid. I picked up two from the jy and made sure they worked. Holes it all up and the key still wouldn't come out and I couldn't get out of park. The car turns on just fine and if I move the interlock solenoid arm out of the way it will drive just fine. The position indicator still does not work. I took out the gauges and found a couple bad capacitors that as well. Replaced those but did not change anything. I swapped the gauge cluster from my 92 and the lights act funny. No check engine light when you first turn it on and d4 light stays on. No other position indicator lights work. Swapped it back and then swapped tcus works perfect in the 92. In fact the tcus have the same part number. Do I have the wrong tcu or is it something else? I have no idea what to do anymore. The tcus part number is 28100-PX0-731-M1.

I think there was a difference in 91 and 92 tcus. Cause I had a 92 and put it on my 91 and I think that the d4 light did stay on. Found out that the 2 boards were different for the years.

I think that's how I figured it out. Its been so long though.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
