ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

You drive around all the time on the PT3 or PT6 Accord ECU? I hope your H22 isn't damaged... that's not a good idea!

Wouldn't the fuel cut at lower rpm prevent any damage from happening? Especially if his computer isn't running the VTEC and engaging the higher rpm cams lobes?

The specs at lower rpm on the F22 and the H22 aren't that different, so I would assume that the fueling rates and ignition timing would be fairly similar as well. Things get very different after the H22 high rpm cam lobes get engaged and the butterflies open - but if the ECU isn't allowing the VTEC system to switch to the high lift cams, can any engine damage occur?

The H22A has a significantly higher compression radio than the F22A. Even more so if the H22A is JDM. The H22A injectors are also a good deal larger than the F22A's (something the ECU isn't programmed for.)

You're right, the biggest risk would be at high RPM, and with the VTEC lobes (which obviously aren't engaging with a PT3/6) But driving around for extended periods of time on the wrong ECU could cause some major damage.
If there's a slight lean spot in the fuel map, it could result in detonation. Even if it's not major, it could cause damage over time.
If the ECU causes a rich condition, carbon buildup can also cause damage over time. Fouling spark plugs, clogging the cat, fouling the o2 sensor, buildup gathering around valve seating surfaces... it can get ugly!

That being said, I'm running a PT3 on my H22 at the moment, but only as I'm working on it to get things running properly. The car has been sitting for 5 years, and I don't care to fry my chipped P28! I never do more than idle the car for a few minutes, or take it for a drive around the block.
Weeks of regular driving on the wrong ECU could cause problems. Months could do irreversible damage.

Thanks, Deevergote. I forgot about the larger fuel injectors on the H22 (which I shouldn't have, as I just bought some H22 injectors a couple months ago to get the higher fuel rates). The ECU commands fuel injector pulse widths, which means the injectors are going to inject a lot more fuel with the H22 injectors than the F22 ECU expects. The oxygen sensor should correct much of this, but I can see that the F22 ECU may cause the engine to run rich a lot.

Exactly. The larger injectors would dump more fuel, the o2 sensor would read the rich condition and make the ECU freak out.
I have about 2 miles and maybe 2 hours of idle time on brand new spark plugs, and they're already noticeably discolored. Granted, I'm also running 5 year old gas... (Do as I say, kids, not as I do! )

After 5 years, all of the more volatile compounds in gasoline will have long since boiled off. You can't be getting much fuel vaporization. I'm amazed your car will even start.

Although, as discussed above, your F22 ECU is likely dumping in a lot of extra fuel. I'll bet the engine won't start when you switch to an H22 ECU, unless you add some fresh fuel first.

Yeah, I'm shocked myself. I've since added a gallon or so of more recent fuel (year old 87 octane used in my mower), as well as a bottle of octane booster and a bottle of Chevron Techron.
It idles amazingly smooth considering the crap it's burning!

And yeah, that's one reason I'm not even going to attempt running it on my P28 until I have everything back up to par.

Really? My buddy said the same thing. I didn't think it would really screw up my motor!! What are the symptoms?

I've been driving it ever since the swap was done and at times I drive hard and fast as possible. I haven't noticed anything go wrong... F22 injectors and f22 intake mani on a h22 intake Mani.
I guess I better buy quick huh

Chances are, you've already done damage. With those small injectors and a fuel map designed for a significantly different engine, you'll be running quite lean. At least VTEC didn't work.

Why the hell would you even have a swap without the correct ECU? Without VTEC, the H22 isn't really any better than the F22. You've basically been destroying a perfectly good H22 for no good reason.

Symptoms... check your spark plugs. Look into how to read a spark plug, and you'll see what's been going on inside your engine. The valves may have been warped due to excessive heat, or bent due to detonation. Your ring lands may have been weakened by detonation.

Also, learn to use the edit button if you have something to add. Posting twice in a row will lead to your thread being deleted. Merging posts is a pain in the ass.

Yea I read up on people driving 6 months or less and they haven't had a problem. I plan on getting the right ecu..
Why would I get a motor with vtec and not want to use it?
It's all about money, I don't mind stewing it up and starting over. I've waited 6 months for this swap to be done and ima drive the piss out of it

Build it. Break it. Do it again. It's fun

I'm sorry, but you make no sense to me. Good luck. I hope you didn't break anything. I'm done here.

The computer was the first part of the swap I got. I had been collecting parts for years.

Once you do the swap. Swapping another in should be easy.

A p13 will only run you about $100. I know you may think money is tight. But a new motor is $1100. You do the math.

That's why I'm buying one next paycheck, swap has on been done for 2 weeks and I get paid every 2 weeks. Remember my title of this thread is "what ecu do I need for a automatic ecu?" Meaning lookin to buy one....funny how that other dude flips out like I'm saying no one needs a p28 or p13.
                              And kill your motors! ......no
