ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    h22a auto vs manual

hello guys, im about to replace my faulty h22a on my cb7 and before i go and buy just about anything i wanna make sure about something...
i just called a motor shop and they told me they only had 1 h22a in stock and it was coming out of an auto transmission car and that it had only 170hp...
ive heard before that auto h22a had less hp then its manual couterpart and ive done lots of research on forums (including here) but all info i found was either very old or was post with people arguing about what they think...

so im asking here hoping someone that ''knows'' could answer me rather then someone who ''thinks'' he knows...

so...are there any differences in the internals that makes an auto h22a less powefull then a manual h22a?

I think you are refering to the F20b. I think all h22a are 200.

    I think.

H22As are identical from manual to automatic. If a shop says otherwise, stay away. They don't even know what they're selling!

The F20B is the only one that varied between auto and manual (180ps vs 200ps... hp numbers are slightly less than those.)

NO H or F engine is rated at 170hp.

when he told me 170hp i was like...hummmm ok..... i know no h22s are rated 170 hp but he put doubt in my mind as to if there wer any differences within the engine itself...dont want to buy a motor and then realize that i got the wrong one

i also figured if there wer any differences they would most likely be on the intake manifold or the throttlebody...wich i can swap for the ones i have in the car right now
because the info on h22a on wikipedia suggests that there are indeed some differences between h22s..

The 190ps (187hp) versions are the Accord Sir engines, which MIGHT be due to the ECU (they don't run a P13 like the Prelude), but I'm not certain. They're rather uncommon. Most H22As will be from Preludes. Other than the ECU, or the word of the shop, I wouldn't know how to tell the difference.
The USDM H22A1 is also 190hp. Obviously, that will be stamped H22A1.

That relatively minor difference in power won't really even be felt, though.

This comment is so rediculous.I've seen you post on almost every thread here with no real knowledge or advice. Whoring threads to raise your post count is forbidden so I would calm down until you have some USEFUL information to provide.

I don't think all H22's are closed decks.
Mine if I remember correct was a H22a4 and it had a closed deck, It was built to be a higher compression motor.

If at all possible I'd try to get the closed deck, for me, it's worth the peace of mind not to have cylinder shift at high rpms.
I wish Honda had put iron sleeves in these. It would have still been light and made for a great oem platform, for aftermarket parts.
