ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

F22a4 over heated now won't stay on long

I have a 1991 honda accord ex and it over heated (my coolant leaked out of a broken hose in the back of the engine) and we fixed it and put in more coolant, then did a oil change and now it won't stay running for long. It sounds like its empty but I put 6 gallons in it! What could be wrong here?

You may have blown your head gasket. Was there coolant in the oil when you changed it? If the gasket is blown and the head is warped, the engine may not have enough compression to run.

I had my f22a engine overheat a few months ago but surprisingly it never started giving me any noticable issues until a few weeks ago. Started seeing smoke out the tailpipe and signs of coolant on one of the plugs, hard starts followed by plumes of smoke. I used some copper block seal in the cooling system and it fixed the start up problem but 2 days ago it smoked out the tailpipe after an hour long drive... I have the head gasket kit already and what I would like to know is if you guys think my block could be warped or if its just the head. If its just the head then its an easy fix.

I was so uneducated about it when it overheated that I actually drove the car home for about 5 minutes. I'm very surprised it didn't do worse because the car still has good compression and runs great. Probably because it was rebuild engine.

There wasn't any coolant, it was all oil. It was pretty black though. But when it ran hot we pulled over for 20 minutes and took 30 minutes to get home taking stops every minute. So it didnt run hot for more than an hour.

Ok, no coolant in the oil, you might be alright.
Check your spark plug condition. I've had my engine cut out after idling for a few seconds due to seriously fouled plugs.

Could they have gotten damaged when I over heated? Buddy at work said its a possibility.

It's possible. Damaged by heat, fouled by too much fuel, fouled by oil... who knows. Pull em and see. It's an easy thing to check, and a cheap thing to fix if it's the problem.

I'm gonna look at it in the am, finally got a day off. I have a spare a4 head and gaskets but I really don't feel like going through the trouble of swapping the heads.

Got to work on the car later than I wanted to, but the spark plugs werent firing and I was getting fuel, so I got new ngk plugs and they weren't firing consistently, the #3 cylinder plug hesitated to fire on point. Missed maybe 4 times.
