ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    clean f22

    I just bought a 90 accord with a f22a1 and want 2 stick a lil
money into it. Can anyone please help me on what would be the cheapest yet still a respectable route I can go with my motor. I'm wantin it 2 be a good running car for sure but nothing super fancy. As long as its clean and respectable, that's fine with me. I've read a lot on here that the f22a1 is a decent platform to go from and eventually I wanna go Turbo but that's way down the road. I also want to take all the emissions st7ff off and make the engine bay look super clean but honestly don't know what all I can take off without making it run improperly. Eventually wanna do a wire tuck but that's after I achieve my goal. I would like to put the single cam v tec head on it but not real sure. Any advice on the route I should go with this? Bolt ons with this motor or what. Is it even worth putting some money into since I'm definately on a budget or am I wasting my time. The motor mileage is unknown do to a replaced gauge cluster but it seems to run great. Please let me know some ideas on what other people with lots of Honda knowledge would do. This is my favorite body style and ALWAYS have wanted to build one so lets here it haha. Thanks

Easiest most sure step is to begin with basic bolt ons and full tune up.
A nice high quality intake system , header, and full exhaust will be a great step forward.

          Thanks for the feedback

Yea ill prolly go with a tune up, exhaust, and a whole intake system 1st thing. Tell me this though... why does everyone rag on the eBay parts so much when half the time they r made out of the same type of metals than some of the "name brand" parts. I mean I know everyone wants the name brand parts and I don't blame then at all but is this the only reason they dog it so much or what lol. Also if I get a bigger throttle body while I'm doin the intake side of things will I need to get bigger injectors as well. I mean the more air put in the more fuel u need obviously so would it be best to go with that? What intake setup do u recamend that is not really expensive.

          Thanks again!!

There is a difference in designs and quality and yes even materials.
All headers are not created equal, the design is what you aree paying for most of the times, there are many versions and qualities of "stainless steel". Ebay is not the devil in all cases but my biggest concern with inferior products is the bad taste that they leave in a enthusiast mouth.
Injectors have room to grow but they depend on your build . If your doing something basic then a simple fuel pressure regulator should handle that task.

An intake is just a pipe, there are "resonant properties" that you can take advantage of when designing on, but on a stock f22a it doesn't matter. Many people get ebay parts, I just don't trust them for critical parts like suspension or engine internals.

If you get a bigger throttle body, you do not need to get bigger injectors. Your engine can only pull in a certain amount of air. Intake mods just make it easier to pull in the air.

I would recommend a good filter (K&N) over the stock tubing

The intake pipe is pretty basic design and as stated above some have better designs than others, be sure you get the correct diameter and length and the filter element is what makes and breaks the intake system so don't cheap out there I am more partial to the Apexi filters and not a fan of c.a.i.

Ok thanks for clearing the injector thing up for me. I should have stated above that I'm not completely new to how the basics work cuz I've grown up around street bikes and dirtbikes my whole life and have raced motocross for several years so I'm familiar with the basics on how an engine works I was just wanting some advice on a few things. Besides all that I have learned a couple things from the feedback so far haha. However I guess my biggest question is, should I go for the single can v tec head or is the power outcome not worth the time and labor it takes to do it. I am pretty mechanically inclined so I could pretty much do the swap other than the wiring. I have NEVER been good with wiring and don't know what all it takes to do the swap. Anyay, how much more power woulh I get out of the v tec head? Is it the f22b1 head that I need or what.

                  Thanks for the info

If you actually are going to add a turbo later on, I would advise against bolt-ons at this stage. You'll be wasting a lot of money on headers and exhaust that you will replace later. I would keep your car running in good condition stock and research more as it seems like you have a lot of ideas. After you learn more you might not want a turbo and instead a swap, maybe nothing. Stock is usually much easier to maintain
