ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

engine performance mods on car with AT

i've been building cars & engines now for more than 25 years. honda/acuras for 13 years.. that being said.. every one of my cars was a Manual transmission..
i recently picked up my 90 accord ex with an auto tranny.. i wanted a nice cheap daily driver that got good fuel economy and had plenty of torque.

last night i read all 21 pages of Deev's post about the f22a1 performance mods to get 30 hp for under $500.. great thread.. gave me some ideas for some very cheap mods.. the question is.. with an automatic transmission.. is it worth it?

Mines an auto and does 0-60 in 8.46 seconds. Eventually i do want a manual transmission and a tune, but for now thats where I'm at.

    C-3PO's MRT USDM yo!

then i see my baby, suddenly I'm not crazy,
It all makes sense when i look into her eyes

As a self-proclaimed builder you should easily be able to figure that out.

Set your goals, and see if the money invested is justifiable. That's pretty much all we can tell you.

Joey, my last build was a 11.2:1 jdm B20B..its in my civic.. its got a HD Pressure plate and exedy disk.. lots of torque and you feel it in the seat of your pants..
but putting approx 30 crank hp upgrades through a honda AT? i'm just wondering what others who've tried basic upgrades on their AT cars feel.. whether its worth it or not. doing them is easy.

"Butt Dyno" stories can and do vary. 30bhp is still 30bhp though. But you're talking about taking a car that probably makes 110whp and taking it to about 135whp. You will probably feel it, but it won't be anything spectacular; especially if you're used to driving Civics.

very true.. just mainly wanted to liven up my DD a bit.. its very hard for me to leave anything stock for long..
but i recently picked up an 88 Rx7 that is in the works to receive a LSx/T56 swap .. one reason i'm wondering whether these mods are worth it is i'd rather spend the money on my rx7. but its still important to enjoy driving the DD as well

Well I guess it's a matter of would you like to derail a couple hundred bucks from your project to have a more fun commute.

Manual transmission is the best performance upgrade. Automatic doesn't cost too much performance in a straight line from a stop, but if you ever want to accelerate out of a corner, performance upgrades aren't going to help much with a slushbox.

you got it right... acceleration out of a corner.. how bad is a cb7 tranny swap ..i havent done any research on it.. i do know its a major pain in the ass on an EG.. i did it on my eg sedan and swore i'd never do it again LOL..

It's pretty straight foreward. I did it in a day.

Both. The AT is obviously less expensive since they aren't as desirable. But you can bet your bottom you will enjoy the "financial convenience" of Accord prices versus the Civic underworld.
