ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    AC issue

Hey everybody. Been a long time since I've been here. Couldn't remember my old password.

Well, it's starting to get hot outside, and I'm having AC issues; Wanted to see if you guys/girls could help.

I went and got some freon at Autozone. Put some freon in the lines, and I could feel the cold air in the cabin. Two hours later there is no more cold air.

    I've replaced the AC lines.

    ----

    Things I have noticed:

-When I turn on the AC my car starts to idle pretty rough

-I turned off my car while the AC compressor was kicked on, and I then heard a sizzling noise come from the AC comp.

    ---

Any ideas on what the issue could be?

    Thank for the help!

Compressor has leaked out all of its oil? If so then you will need a new/used AC compressor I would assume new/used ac compressor is in order from the sounds you are describing... did you try ac stuff after or before you added Freon?

I don't see that you pulled the system into a vacuum. If not then you wont have a good start.

did you use AC gauges? What did the high side do, was it fluctuating?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

I'm picking up a used compressor when I get some free time. Work has me consumed.

I can already tell you know more than me, lol.

        Why is a vacuum needed?

All I did was change the AC lines, and then tried the 134A again, and it's cold for a couple of hours, and then gets warm again.

How much Freon did you put in? When you do conversions your not supposed to max it out, I forgot the amount but I think its like 85% compared to r12.

The reason why you vacuum it is to remove the moisture in the system. Moisture is something that can corrode the system internally. Im amazed it blew cold for a few hours. But you indeed need to check the system with a set of gauges to ensure that the compressor is working correctly and that the pressures are not going through the roof (indicating an issue)

You can have a leak as well. Best thing to do if you don't have the right tools is take it to the shop they will evac, vacuum, and refill the system and re-check for leaks. I do it all the time myself, but sometimes just having the machine is much easier and no guessing work.

I have a feeling your high pressure relief valve on the bottom of the compressor has a major leak.

That's how I lost all my R12 in my Original Hadsys compressor that was working flawlessly prior to this.

I think it would've still worked after replacing the valve, but I didn't want to take a chance and spend 80 dollars in R12, since it probably ran with no oil for a bit when it all dumped out. I replaced the compressor since it had 220k on it.

The pressure relief valve is a brass valve at the bottom of the compressor, you could probably find one in the JY.

Just remove it from the donor compressor and blow through it, if you can, that means its bad.
