ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

automatic accord acceleration and starting problems

Hi there, I have a 1992 honda accord Lx automatic and after driving for 7 minutes it seemed normal, then all of a sudden the rpms go waaaayyyyy off the charts when im pressing the gas! I let go of the gas to have it reset itself, goes back down to 0 rpm then I pushed on the gas softly and the rpms goes off the charts again. Next thing I did was park on the side and had my car off, tried to turn my car back on but it doesnt crank at all. The tow truck guy says it may be my starter when he looked under the hood and tried turning the car on again. Could that be it? Would love to hear some great feedback.

Is your D4 light flashing? That would be indicative of a TCU (transmission computer) error code. Your transmission itself could also be on the way out.

As for not cranking, it could be a number of things. The starter is definitely a possibility (you could always remove it and take it to a store to be tested... many stores will test it for free.)
It could also be due to broken or dirty battery or ground connections, or a bad ignition switch.

The transmission is a year old (had to replace it since the original one was going bad) the d4 light i have on their is non-existant since i got the car, (probably the light inside went faulty) so i wouldnt know if it would be flashing, and as for starting it, its weird. It makes a sound that stays consistent but isnt cranking

The first thing you should do is replace that D4 bulb, then. If there's a problem being reported by the TCU, you'll be able to figure out what it is that way. Otherwise, you'll be blindly throwing parts at your car.

What kind of sound does it make? Is it a whirring sound? If so, then the tow truck guy is right. The starter solenoid failed, and the starer gear isn't being pushed out far enough to engage the transmission.
The last time I helped a friend replace his starter, we had to return 3 different refurbished Autozone starters for that very same problem. If the gear doesn't pop out enough, it won't catch, and the engine won't turn.

thats exactly the sound it would make, like a semi high pitched humming sound
