ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Intake manifold/Broken 90 degree connection

Broken! I’ve been searching all over the web and still cannot find out what this connection is called. Can anyone tell me what this 90 degree connector is called? Is it replaceable? How can I get it off? When i purchased the motor I didn’t notice it was broken and when we unloaded the motor I spotted the crack. I tried to pull it off with some vice grips and as you can see it has broken even more.

The intake manifold in the above picture is from a 96 h22.

That elbow supplies vacuum to the brake booster. In regards to removing it, first thing I would do is remove the plenum/upper half. You don't want foreign debris falling down into the runners. The elbow is a tight press fit. I would take a big round pin punch and punch the piece all the way through from the outside or take a dremel with a small grinding tip and grind/cut a slit in it so it can fold in on itself slightly and fall out. You'll have to cannibalize another plenum for a good elbow. Apply heat to the aluminum around the elbow, soak with penetrating oil, and try to swing the elbow back and forth until she's free. Be gentle with it, don't kink it. It's either that or you could replicate the elbow with brass NPT fittings from lowe's or home depot, but then you'd have to tap threads in the plenum. Up to you. JB weld can also fill any loose tolerances that you might encounter too, if you reuse a honda elbow. Heat helps alot to expand the aluminum outward making for a looser fit while hot.

I think threading with an NPT would be the cleanest and easiest.
