ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Which alternator do I need to get?

I have a 93 accord EX with an F23A1 engine from a 2002 accord and the battery light came on. The car started fine which I take it to mean the battery is still in good working condition. However, when I unhook the battery the speakers start making some kind of weird noise and the car sounds like it's ready to die which leads me to believe that it's the alternator.
My most likely guess is that I'll need the '02 alternator, but I didn't know if for some odd reason I might need the '93 version because of the frankenstein build.

    Thank you for your time.

The easy answer to determine what part you will need is determined by the wiring harness your engine has on it. If whomever swapped the engine used the 1993 Accord engine harness, then that's the alternator you'll need. If they used the 2002 harness, you'll need a 2002 Accord alternator. The plugs are different and the newer alternator has one more rib on the pulley.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

First thing first get that alternator tested. It may seem like it but before throwing it out for a new one you should always be certain. And as for finding out which, I'd follow Jarret's advice. Just because it's a different motor doesn't mean it was swapped with a different harness.

Post a picture of the back of the alternator with the plug unplugged.
