ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Attaching rear window trim

Anyone have any ideas on how to reattach the stainless trim around the very back window that don't include the bs clips? I pulled it to fix the infamous trunk leak and 3 of the clips on the bottom broke just tightening them back down. And the clips on the sides keep breaking too

Get new clips, I doubt anything else will be satisfactory. At least here in Australia the clips are still available and not stupidly expensive.

Thinking about using generous amounts of RTV and finding a way of holding them in place until it cures and trimming what squishes out w/ a razor blade afterwards. I really don't wanna use the stock clips as I can't find them and I don't like all the dirt/mud that accumulates w/ the current design. I have enough rust issues to address

When you say that you can't find them, are you speaking from some effort in looking? They're available for sale from Honda, on eBay in bulk or various kits and from www.clipsandfasteners.com so they're certainly out there.

Only ones I seen on EBay were for the front windshield, which looked like I could use for the sides but not the bottom. Even that was $30; I can only imagine what the stealership wants. If I wanted to use the stock mountings I suppose I could just go to the jy, but I don't.

Honda sourced parts can be surprising, some are ridiculously expensive, others are very reasonably priced. You don't know until you ask...

I do not want to use the stock clips. If I did I would source them at the jy.

Try a clear silicone caulk and clean any thick spots of it quickly, try and do it in sun on warm day...gl in Michigan this time of year lol. But at this point most CB7's are what we can start to call beat up and why not try 'ghetto' fixes?

Personally, I would go with regular 100% silicone instead of goop, jb weld or any of those types of products. You don't want a permanent seal, I'm sure you want to be able to pull it off in the future.

You could redneck it and use drywall screws. Lol.

I bought some black RTV. We'll see how it works. I'm not doing this to be cheap; I think it's a bad design, I don't want crud building up under there again and will have no reason to remove it again after its all sealed up
