ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Tuning for an automatic

I am not new to here by any means just haven't been here in a while and forgot all my login info. So I'm not a noob to accords. That being said......

I am now rocking a Audi a4 quattro these days but I keep toying with my wife's 99 accord. She will not even consider me teachj g her to drive stick so I am stuck with the slush box. I have plans to swap it to a f22a6 with h23 IM, delta 272 can regrind, my own porting work, and a few other bolt ons. If I do this I feel that I need to tune the vehicle. The question is how? What can I do to tune this thing while keeping it automatic?

Don't do any of that. The F23 in there now is plenty potent. You're going to have issues tuning it no matter what because the TCU is integrated into the ECU. What it boils down to: You don't have a tuning option. Well, technically speaking, you might be able to get an AEM F/IC to work, or some other piggyback system, but most can't advance timing via programming, and you'd be leaving a good amount of power on the table. Also, being automatic, the gear ratios really slow it down. The money that it would cost to do what you want and keep the automatic isn't worth it, and you're better off finding ANOTHER Accord with a 5-speed(if you're that tied to it) and THEN performing similar modifications.

What's your goal with modifications to the car anyway? Why not just dump that money into your Audi?

I have coilovers and wheels, exhaust and intake in the Audi and I'm just not feeling it. The accord is actually my wife's. I can't help but to tinker with it. She won't drive stick

Then you have almost another 10% power loss through the torque converter.

You may have better luck convincing your wife to learn to drive stick...

The f23 will make as much as an f22 until you start doing serious mods

I wouldnt bother. Its possible to tune with a piggyback but itll be halfassed. Im also wondering why you want to swap out the f23? You should look into some f23 builds because theyre plenty capable. My advice would be to sell the audi since you arent feeling it and buy an accord of your own or swap her accord for your audi and swap in a 5 speed. Even if you manage to get some respectable numbers the auto will slow you down because of its gearing but there is an auto h22 transmission that came with lsd so I guess that could be an option. Also look into level10 if you plan on hitting anything over 200hp they build import auto trannies.

Even building the auto trans I'm still stuck with no quality way to tune the car. I am not impressed with the f23 and having built a few a6's in the past I'm most comfortable there. I do plan on making an adapter for the f23/f22b to accept a h23 intake manifold but once I am able to take over on this car it will be swapped. My wife loves the accord and it will be a challenge to get her out of it. But once I achieve the impossible I want to swap a mildly built a6 with h23 trans (standard). I also want to build another turbo car and this is just the one for me to do it.

Maybe you can go to the civic world and see how they handle auto tuning. Maybe they use chipped ecu's with a stock or modded tcu.

Yeah I have been told by a couple people that the 92-95 civic has the TCU built into the ecu. So I guess that might be the way to go. Worse comes to worse I can manually shift the trans and she won't have it to full throttle at all so it could work.

                  Neptune or Crome

Hondata supports no automatics unless its for a K

Im kinda in the same boat..Ill probably go with Neptune once I scrape the loot together its kinda pricey..but worth it. They also sell a TCU i think a P78 counterpart..the case looks like my JDM TCU
