    H22A Euro-R / engine mount bracket

I'm in need of some serious help. So I currently drive a 91 Honda Accord Ex ( CB7) I was going to buy the H22A Type S but the guy talked me into getting the Euro. He said that it would fit in the cb7 and that its common. The problem that I'm running into is that the engine mount brackets don't fit the Mounts I called and ordered the mounts through swap shop racing. and they said with them they said I have the right mounts for my year model car and the engine. At the moment I didn't know I had the Euro until a few days ago... I REALLY do not know how to fix the dilemma I'm in and I believe its too late to return the motor seeing as its from Canada and I'm in Texas.

which mounts are you talking about? the euro-r has the same mounts as any other regular H22 (including the Type-S) so you should be in the same boat most people are in when doing a swap. Which ones are off, and what is the actual problem with them? You are supposed to buy the mounts specific to the car, not the motor.

Is that all the mounts that you received?

I'm pretty sure you need a lot more than that.
sold! But here's my build thread for those interested.

those are for an H22 / Prelude. You need ALL of the mounts and brackets from a 90-93 Accord, which you should already have with your stock motor. Remove them from the stock motor and put everything onto the new motor.

ohhhhhhhhh thank you. I will try that out and let you know. I know have to buy a new clutch and fly wheel just to replace the old one.. not sure what kind of condition the current one is in and I don't want to have to drop everything again in the future. Thank you!

Most of your installation procedure should be listed in pretty good detail in the Swaps section, stuck right at the top. Information regarding both the H22A installation and the OBD2 to OBD1 conversion can be found there.

And I agree that the Euro R is the better choice over the Type S.

Really, why do you agree with the euro or the type s? I've read a little bit in some forums maybe because of the difference in 20hp. I'm new to this so pardon me for my interest.

Both the Euro R and Type S make 220hp. I prefer the Euro R because it has what is generally regarded as a superior intake manifold. Plus, the Type S is paired with an ATTS transmission, which we can't use in our cars. To install the Type S, some modification is necessary to install the correct intermediate shaft to be used with a non-ATTS transmission.

I prefer the base OBD1 H22A over any of them, honestly. Closed deck block, no OBD conversion necessary, a compatible OBD1 ECU is available, and all replacement parts can be purchased easily in the US. It's also a good deal cheaper, so that savings can go into making up for that 20hp deficit, potentially with cash to spare!

Still, the Euro R and Type S engines are impressive. Compared to a stock H22A, they have higher compression, heads that have been ported and polished from the factory, better intake manifolds, more aggressive camshafts... you pay for that, but they're essentially factory "built" engines, which is pretty cool.

The H22A engine generally sold as the "Type-S" is from the Prelude SiR S-Spec which is slotted between the SiR with the 197hp H22A and the 217hp Type-S with ATTS. The engine is the same as the Type-S engine with the exception of ATTS hardware. It still uses the conventional dual-runner intake manifold, but benefits from 11.0:1 compression and more potent camshafts.

The fact that you never see "SiR S-Spec" engines advertised is reason enough for me to stay away. Engine importers either don't care to inform you that you're actually buying something else more compatible, and are benefitting from your ignorance, or they're selling you an ATTS engine and benefitting on your ignorance in other areas.

I didn't even know that the SiR S-Spec used the same engine as the Type S (well, essentially...) Interesting!

And I totally agree... importers that call it a Type S when it is not do seem shady. Either they're ignorant, or they're relying on their customers to be ignorant.

Imagine how irritating it would be for a Prelude SH owner to buy what they believed to be an ATTS-compatible Type S engine, only to get an SiR S-Spec engine instead!

Right! Admittedly, I haven't looked much, but I've never seen an importer that sells engines labeled as both. Much less one who describes the differences.

Me neither. Granted, I've never been terribly interested in the Type S to do too much research. I like my base H22A, for the reasons I mentioned above (plus, when I bought it in 2003, a Type S engine was WAY out of my budget!)
I'm honestly surprised I didn't know about the SiR S-Spec until now! I think I've heard of the model before, but I didn't realize what engine it had. I likely assumed it was the standard 200hp H22A.

I should dig up pictures of the different brackets found on the back of each engine, so people can ask importers before they buy. Or even better, figure out which serial numbers are for which engines. I'm sure the number will identify it, as long as we have something to decode it.
