ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Possible bad wheel bearing.

I have been hearing a squeal any time I made a left turn. the noise is coming from the front drivers side. I at first thought it was low ps fluid. No noise when parked and turning the wheel though. The fluid level was fine. And now my brakes have reached the end of their lives nearly. I sometimes hear the squeals of the wear indicators when I brake. They sound like my previously unidentified noise. Is it possible a bad bearing allows the rotor to rub? I don't feel any play in the wheel when I jack it up and grab it at 12&6. I also don't feel any vibrations in the coil spring when I spin the wheel. Should I just throw on some pads and keep rolling, or should I get rotors, bearings and pads?

Seriously. "My brake pads are gone. I can hear a squeal. Is it the bearings"

One. Replace your brake pads first
Two. You don't check wheel bearings by rocking the wheel. That's for ball joints. If your bearing had that much play you would hear a grinding noise ( as I have previously). To check for wheel bearing issues, take the wheel off, then the caliper, reinstall wheel, and run thev wheel, whilst feeling for any rough vibrations on the control arm.
sold! But here's my build thread for those interested.

Thanks for taking the time to write a response but I don't think you fully understand my question. No sound when braking for weeks only when turning. When the noise first started I check it out and found shot ball joints. I replaced the whole arms with moog parts on both sides. With the new parts there isn't any play in the wheel. The sound continued. Then weeks if not months later my brakes started to squeal when applied somtiems. I have already purchased pads. My concern was my bearing was shot possibly. This allowing the rotor to move in and out. I was taught grab 3&6 for tie rod, 12&6 for wheel bearings or ball joint. My concern is I'm not able to apply as much force as turning does in order to feel it move.

Oh, okay, I get what you're saying now. Just try spinning it without the caliper, because 3&9 is for tie rod, but 12 and 6 is ball joints only.

It does sound like it could be bad wheel bearings. They are easy to replace.

Just try what I said, remove the caliper and try spinning it with the wheel on.
