ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Need Help Repairing Front Left Suspension

I recently bought my accord and it came with left front damaged from the previous owner running it into a ditch. I replaced the left fender, left corner light, and fixed the bumper with zip ties. Then I took off the left wheel and noticed that my drive shaft is touching the chassis, my LCA is crooked, and my sway bar link is missing a bushing. So I replaced the LCA, radius rod, and sway bar bushings. Now the drive shaft doesn't touch the chassis and my steering wheel doesn't shake no more. But I still notice that my sway bar and my LCA don't line up right..
Do I need to replace my front crossmember?
Do I need to replace my sway bar?

If the hit was hard enough to bend the lower control arm, I wouldn't assume that the LCA mounting points were in the right place anymore. I guess the question is, what effect does the "not lining up right" have on the drive-ability of the car? Have you tried to get it aligned?

No I haven't aligned it yet. I want to repair everything before I do but I just notice that the front crossmember is crooked because I measured both ends and the one on the left is off so I'm going to go ahead and go to the junk yard and find a crossmember off another CB.

The sway bar links dont usually line up that well to begin with (The bar always looks like its up too far) but if the cross member is bent its probably best to replace it. Have you checked the rear cross member that houses the rack?

It's possible that the entire front end is tweaked. It only takes a fraction of an inch for things to be horribly misaligned.
My car was hit and repaired before I bought it back in 2001. I didn't know until years later, when a friend pointed out that I had obvious replacement panels on there (parts that should have been stamped SM4 that were not.)

It wasn't an issue until I went to install a traction bar, which replaces the front crossmember and radius rods. Even though the car had been repaired, it wasn't 100% straight. The traction bar, which was designed for a car that wasn't damaged, didn't line up. I ended up welding it to the frame.

My car just got hit again, and I don't even want to bother trying to fix it, knowing that it will likely never be straight.

I guess I'll find out once I install the crossmember and take it to do an alignment. I'll keep you guys updated hopefully everything goes good.
