ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

My new tires, these will work right?

While introducing myself I told about some of my cb's issues. One of them being a vibration in the steering wheel after reaching speeds of 55mph or higher. I have 195/60R15 on the car now and I picked these up today http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/t...pstcinomjs.jpg
They are 205/60R15 91H. They are a bit wider by what, 10mm. That shouldnt be a problem I don't think. I've seen people run 215's and be fine with a much bigger wheel. My problem is I don't know the offsetnon these damn mismatched wheels I have. Offset is everything and although I'm sitting on factory suspension (my axg's and neuspeed sports haven't arrived yet) I don't wanna rub anything and I couldn't pass the tires up. Under $20 bucks a piece and they look brand new, dirty but new. One of my tires has a broken belt. I do alot of interstate driving on my way to and from work and I also wanted a little bigger footprint for mildly spirited driving. These are the wheels on my car now and I don't know much about them. http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/t...psbesmumps.jpg. and http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/t...psgpdh4f8p.jpg

I would double check that they don't rub at full lock but otherwise you will be fine. Those are factory 92-93 CB7 alloys that came on EX sedans.

as illinois_erik said, your speedometer will be off some.

Larger (taller) tires will essentially change your gearing ratio, which is why the speedometer will be off by a bit. It won't be a set amount, and the amount that it is off will increase with your speed (if it's off by 1mph when you're going 20mph, it may be off by 3mph by the time you're going 60.) Regardless, those tires shouldn't be problematic in the least. They will only be SLIGHTLY taller, due to the aspect ratio being a function of the tire's width. The width shouldn't be an issue, as people have run much wider tires on wheels with similar offset. That's not so wide that it will affect your handling negatively (if you went to a 225 width or something, it'd be like riding on Jello.)

Also, you might want to rethink using AGXs with Neuspeed Sports. The springs are a bit much for those shocks. AGXs aren't meant for a drop lower than 1.5", and those springs will drop you 1.8" in the front. Some people have that setup and have had no issues. Others (myself among them, before I bothered learning about shock valving) have experienced blown shocks on the smallest of bumps, and a ride that is far more harsh than it should be.
When I switched from H&R Sport (exact same specs as Neuspeed Sport) and KYB AGX shocks to H&R Race (stiffer and lower) and Koni Yellows, the ride was significantly better, and I never once blew a shock.
I would STRONGLY advise you to exchange those AGXs for some Koni Yellows, for longevity, performance, and comfort.

How would it throw my speed-o off? The only difference in my new tires and my old ones is the width. The profile is exactly the same

coII couldn't pass up the agx. I need new shocks and I'm on a budget at the moment. I got the complete set for around $170. One koni yellow cost close to that. But, I have put the springs on hold until I get other issues of importance settled first

AGX on stock springs would still be a nice upgrade in terms of performance.

The profile is a percentage of width. Aspect ratio 60 means 60% of width. So if width increases, height also increases.

Just had the front tires mounted and balanced. Can't tell if it affected the speedometer but tomorrow I will know for sure. With the old tires it was spot on with my friends jeep liberty and I'm just gonna follow him at different speeds to see how off it is. As for the vibration in the steering wheel, its gone. These tires are a bit taller than I would like but they are only temporary. A thank-you goes out to those that offered info. Scratch the vibration of the list and move on to the next problem!

So I kinda got the shaft with Amazon. I ordered a complete set and only 3 of the 4 showed up. I'm still missing one for the rear. If I return them, I will lose money and I have to purchase the rear strut. I thought I did. Needless to say, I'm not to happy. As for springs I've decided to go with a 1 inch drop to stay within the terms of the warranty. I figure that after I install my new ball joints, the EX K member and sway bar, and better bushings, that it should handle much better than it does now. Also, the tires are much better than the old ones and should provide me with improvements all around.

dont you have a smartphone? get a gps speedometer app to verify. it doesnt even need to be hooked up. or do the math..well plug numbers into a calculator.

This is how you properly upsize your wheels, you find a tire that fits said rim and still gives you a circumference close to the oem wheel & tire, ie: 17" rim, 215/40 tire..or 205/45/17.. will be just about where the stock assembly was, thus no speedo issues, or in another car, rear end gearing/final output issues, like the hoopdies on 28" wheels with nothing else done are dogs same difference if you threw bigass swampers on a 4x4 ...

The good news for this cat is he is in the midwest and speed cops are not nearly as shitty as left or right cost speed cops, but OH-IO is worse than MI when you're outside the city's.
I'm running 205/40/17 on 7" rims and there are no rubbing issues
