ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Suspension question.

umm ya i guess im considered a beginer(even tho ive been on this site and posted alot for the past year anyways) anyways since u dont have a suspension section up for the beginers up yet.

i got skunk 2 lowering springs with tokico hp's. I still have a bad ride. Before that i had kyb gr2. Anyways know wha lowerings spring would give me a better handling ride+ keep my 2.5 inch drop. Let me know.

Anything with a 2.5" drop won't be all that smooth... that's pretty low!

Getting some shocks that are geared more towards low cars would help a bit. Both the Tokico HP and the KYB GR2 are stock replacement shocks, so they really aren't designed to handle cars with that drastic of a drop. KYB actually voids their warranty after 1.5"! Some Koni Yellows would probably make it better, but they aren't cheap.

As for springs... Neuspeed Race will get you down nearly that far, and I've never heard a complaint about that drop. I never rode in a car with that setup though, so I have no firsthand experience.

Yeah I would look at replacing the shock with something geared towards drops. KYBs are great, but as deever said its void after 1.5". and by bad do you mean harsh? bouncy? I mean when you lower a car harshness is to be somewhat expected.

The ride quality has more to do with the springs than the shocks.

I have driven many car lowered with Neuspeed Race springs, several with Tokico Blues on them. They rode like stock. The only thing that will be a little harsher than stock is if you hit a large bump. Because you have 2.5" less travel to stop the downward motion of the car, it will be much firmer than stock, but it will still have to be a pretty severe bump in the road, and will probably still be much better than you have now.

I would try the springs first. I have also heard mixed reviews about severely lowering cars with Tokico blues, but personally haven't witnessed any problems with them.

You can find the Neuspeeds on Ebay ( I would avoid the seller Karumamotoring), or I bought mine from www.inlinefour.com, and have no complaints. The price was right on top of Ebay's and they are an authorized dealer, so the full warranty is effective without any issues. I doubt you would need it though. The springs are also very affordable.

I would say ride quality has as much to do with springs as dampers. Riding around in a car with blown dampers sucks big time. And a car with too much damping for the spring rate it has feels extremely stiff and akward too. Matching a spring to a damper is key. Personally I have used KYB AGX and that has worked well for me as a compromise between ride quality and performance.

Is the car in the pic lowered 2.5"? How much clearance is there between the tire and fender? The reason I ask is my wagon looks about that low, same wheels also, and I didn't think it was lowered that much (before I bought it)

I have a Koni-kit on my wagon, and the handling is just great! don't know how much the drop actually is, but any lower would scrape on every speed-bump. I tried that too....

yes the tein basics coilover kit is good, and is very expensive. I believe i saw it for 1,100 shipped on ebay.

omnipower coilovers are also a good choice for a bit cheaper...i believe those are about 700 maybe shipped.

i would say if you wanted a better ride and stay strut/spring combination, i would def. go with what Mike had said earlier with Koni Yellows. They are expensive, but would make the ride 10 times better. They are a bit expensive, but if you want a better ride its all worth it.

Also do you have a camber kit installed, rear and front, becaues that might cause some bad ride.

the thing i like about coilover packages is that the damper and spring are perfectly tuned for each other.
