Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Door lock not functioning correctly, Ignition cylinder alarm

Figured I'd just make one post for both problems.

Problem 1: Driver's door lock not working from inside.
The door lock on the driver's side isn't operating correctly. When I press down the lock, it DOES lock all of the other doors, just not the driver's door. Now, this problem only occurs when the door is OPEN. When I have the driver's door CLOSED, it DOES lock. However, when I OPEN the door and try to lock it, it DOES NOT lock, however all of the other doors DO lock. I've tried to manually lock the door, and it still DOES NOT lock with the door ajar. However, if I get out of the car, and CLOSE the door and lock it with key, it DOES lock. This doesn't seem right to me, and want to know if anybody else has/had the problem, and how to fix it.

Problem 2: Ignition cylinder makes sound w/o key.
Normally, if you open the door with the key in the cylinder it sound an alarm letting you know. HOWEVER, when I remove the key, it still makes the sound. I have to slant the key and apply pressure against the wall while removing it, and you can hear a click. The noise then ceases. I've sprayed WD-40 in the cylinder, and it still hasn't fixed it. The key looks alittle worn, so it might fix the situation if I get a new key. I'd rather not get a new ignition cylinder and need a different key for the engine than the doors.

    Thanks for any help.

concerning your first problem my car also does that. i think it may be designed that way to keep you from locking your keys inside (because then you have to lock it from the outside), but am not sure. one way around it is to hold the inside door handle open like you are opening the door still and then push down on the lock button. all your doors including the drivers door should lock then.

What that dude said above. Its for stupid people so they dont lock there keys in the car, on the other hand if you did it from the passenger side all of them will lock and if your keys inside well your SOL. As for the second one its suppose to do that. You have to push in and take out and the sound should cease.

for your second problem, i believe you could get a new ignition cylinder and have a lock smith rekey it for your old ignition key

Yeah, but that'd probably be more money and more of a hassle then I'd want. I guess I'll just have to keep twisting the key to turn it off. Is there a fuse that works on the alarm?

You dont need a new cylinder you just need a new switch. But after you pull it out it stops right? I dunno listening to your condition doesnt really sound like a switch problem.

Your first "problem" is by design. Mine does that too, as does my 89 Civic (no power locks, but I have to hold the inside handle open to lock the door when it's open).

Your second problem is the cylinder, not the switch. And FWIW, WD-40 is NOT the best thing to spray into your locks... Use a lubricant designed for locks (graphite). But it's the little cover that closes when you take out the key, it's not closing proberly, so the cylinder thinks the key is still inserted. My sister's 93 EX does the same thing on occasion.

true true, but i mentioned at my end post it didnt sound like switch conditions. Should check the lock cylinder as mentioned didnt know it worked that way learn something new everyday.

Problem One, Designed into the car so that you can't lock the keys in the car without thinking about it. To lock with the door open just pull the door handle that you use to open the door with and lock at the same time, the Drivers door will lock. It's in your owners manual if you have it.

Problem two, probably a worn switch, I have that problem with my Wagon since it used a larger key originally the key cylinder does not detec tthe key being removed all the time and reinserting the key and removing it again releases the "latch" that gets stuck because it is worn out. It's actually a switch built into the cylinder.
