ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Flywheel?

So which one is the better best one to go with?

I am thinking of pulling my a/c prolly tommorow or the next day, and I have a h23 mani on the way and soon to have a bored tb as well. Can I expect nice gains with these additions/ subtractions? And again I do want to replace my flywheel so which is the best company to go with? Thanks.

I have an XTD 12lb flywheel from ebay. I like it well enough. XTD is cheap, and the quality is decent. Fidanza makes some really nice aluminum ones as well... a lot of people use them.

As for those other mods, the tb and mani will give you some decent gains, especially if you pair them with a decent header, intake, and exhaust. Your AC pulley spins freely unless you turn it on, so you're not really gaining power by removing it. However, if you pull EVERYTHING related to the AC, you'll lose a good deal of weight. I've heard anywhere from 50-80lbs (varying reports, I haven't confirmed anything myself). The weight savings is the most valuable part of AC removal.

Cool. Well my a/c runs like shit anyway. If its warmer than 70 it doen't like working. I have an aem short ram, and a magnaflow exhaust. Alos upgraded my ignition a little so I am hoping to see maybe 10 horses from this upgrade?
Also I know the flywheel helps to drop weight but are there other benefits? I really havn't looked into it all that much but I know that it will do something. Maybe rev faster? Any input would help. Thanks.

it drops like car weight, and also it drops rotating mass from the drivetrain, reducing losses usually associated with the drivetrain...you hear of about 15% lost from manual trannys and about 20% from slushys...well, the flywheel will just help with putting more power to the wheels, and also, it will allow the engine itself to rev faster, since it has less mass to get moving..

one thing that makes me hesitate is that i drive a lot in traffic, and i suppose that having that lighter flywheel will just hinder your ability to take off smoothly like 50 million times in a row..

A lighter flywheel DOES rev faster. Some people don't like the crazy light ones... I personally played it safe with the 12 pounder. Honestly, it IS revvier, but it's not THAT different that it affects my driving. My XTD Stage 3 clutch is more the culprit (not that I stall out... ever... MRX is lying if he says otherwise! ) You don't really gain power from the flywheel, but there is less mass for the motor to have to turn... thus, more power should reach the ground. It also makes for easier rev-matching, once you're used to how it works.

You might gain 10hp from those mods. You still have a bottleneck as far as your exhaust manifold goes, so getting a good header should be your next move. Your ignition upgrades really don't mean much just yet... they come into play later on, when you need more spark. They don't hurt, though, so that's good!

After reading your sig, I'm digging that audio setup! That's kinda what I'm going for, when I actually start doing something to my system (or lack thereof). Seems like you built for sound, not bling

Dude my system sounds so sick. And the soundstream screen looks better than my home tv. Its a nice setup that I am happy with.

As far as flywheel goes I am thinking maybe but first i will do the header and carsound cat. Will I be able to light them up if I get the flywheel? I also have solid mounts so dont know what that does but it saved my other mounts.

The solid mounts will allow you to transfer power to the ground better... stock soft mounts allow the engine to flex in the bay a little... makes things smoother, but it puts power elswhere for a brief moment. I need to stiffen up my mounts, actually.

If you upgrade your flywheel, you might as well upgrade the clutch as well. XTD stuff is decent, like I said before. I paid $280 I think for my clutch and flywheel together... and I got the Stage 3 (for my h22). You don't really need the Stage 3. The Stage 1 would probably work just fine, and it'll be fairly cheap. That, combined with the 12lb flywheel should be good.

Well, that changes everything then... You don't really need to upgrade the auto flywheel. It's already thin and light as anything. If you want an upgrade, look into upgrading your torque converter.

I gave MRX an old stock f/h flywheel i had lying in my garage, and he took it to a machine shop where they lightened it to (I believe) 14lbs. He then installed it with the new stage 3(?) clutch.

It's a cheaper alternative to the alum flywheel, but you'll have to ask him what he thinks of it, if he's even still running it.
