ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

You have so much dyno experience, yet all of your "experience" is in direct contrast to most stuff I have ever seen or experienced. Let's see the infinite wisdom of the great one that has tested everything on every car, but never has a dyno sheet to back it up.

Post the dyno plot that bears this out, because my experience speaks differently. I started with an A4, so obviously putting an A4 exhaust on my car will do nothing. I upgraded to a full exhaust system, which did make a slight improvement, but not very much at all. Either:

    A) The exhaust sytem I have is still very restrictive, and that is unfortunate because it isn't significantly different from the exhaust systems others on here are going to put together. Similar system sizes are capable of flowing stock power levels on an H22, so I doubt that.

    or

    B) Tere wasn't that much to be had there.

Got news for you. Haven't yet hit the dyno with the H series plenum, but let me spell it out for you in terms of the real world.

If I put less effort into keeping up with traffic at a lower RPM (i.e. a downshift isn't needed where it previously was, I am making more power at said RPM). I have been driving my car for 8 years and I know what it can do where. I also notice that with the previously mentioned plenum I am more easily maintaining any pace of traffic, at a lower RPM.

Good evidence of this is the 3-4 MPG gain I see daily over my previous setup.

And I didn't even need a dyno to figure that out.

Who said he had an A1?

    2) your ass dyno is not as accurate as you think, but hey, maybe you're a superhuman with a built in ass-accelerometer

    3) don't have such fragile feelings, you're just mad that i disagreed with you here and in the flight 93 thread, and i will disagree everytime i don't agree, that's just me and that's just life.....love me..........just love me goddamn it

    4) again, your ass dyno doesn't count for much......it's a placebo effect....placebos do work around 5% of the time......it's a mental thing

    5) i don't have proof i can wipe my own ass, i don't keep dyno plots, i don't keep time slips, fuck, i don't even keep cars long......everyone will ultimately believe what they want......i know what i said i know, you believe what your ass dyno tells you, no one is hurt so it doesn't matter.....don't be such a baby dude.......i just wanna make sure the other side of "magical manifolds" is portrayed...you know, the side where they don't do much on a stock motor that doesn't have manifold problems as it is.......

i know it's cool to find OEM parts that help out YOUR ride.......been doing it for years with all types of cars.....on my xr4ti, i used mustang, contour, volvo and thunderbird parts....fun stuff.......just don't want people to have unreal expectations.......i'd be ill if i spent half a day fucking with my car to find out i was back at square 1

You haven't damaged my feelings one bit. Don't for a second swallow the placebo that makes you think you have any effect on my feelings.

You are just plain and simply a dick. Nothing more, nothing less. I could really care less that you disagree, it is the manner in which you approach it. Of course, that would take brains and tact to figure out, both of which appear to be in short supply in your household. So I will take the low road and return the favor. Count on it.

Your telling me that I have no basis for a gain, and you claim to have experience with this plenum on this engine? Where was your useful DIY?
I don't buy that you have ever done it or seen a dyno curve that refutes it, because I have seen everything from the lowliest D16 non-VTEC to base model Ford Foci, to SOHC 1st Gen Neons gain from this type of thing (the throttle body at the least). Of course, all of those people that printed thier dyno charts everywhere are probably lying and have something to hide.

As far as your "placebo effect," I am not imagining a change. The change actually occured. Of course I could explain that to you all day long and you wouldn't understand it, because the only thing that works is a dyno. Unless, of course you understand physics. Which you apparently don't have much of a grip on. But that is ok, because neither do most other people.

I will get another GTECH and get some pulls off of that so that I do have a basis of comparison. It isn't the most accurate thing in the world, but it is repeatable if you know how to use it. That means that it is valid vs. other runs that were measured the same way. Then I will go get a real dyno pull in order to quantify the error on the GTECH pull, and then I will go get a timeslip that is faster than my last one, once the temps get nice and hot.

Then we'll see you tell me that I ate a placebo.

As for the Flight 93 thread, I could care less if you disagree. Being a pilot doesn't make you a crash expert.

Being a crash expert makes you a crash expert.

I spoke with crash experts, and I am going to believe them. If you think I am going about gathering information in the wrong way, that is your option. As far as the conspiracy theory crap goes, I could give two shits what people think about it. I was merely stating that those crashes were entirely possible. And they were.

Besides. If you disagree with me, that tells me that I am just about in the right place.

My advice to anyone on this thread with an F22A6 is to pick up a plenum and try it. I will get some usable numbers ASAP. I was going to do this before I pulled the engine out anyway.

I might have the answer for this. I had my F22A IAB's connected directly to the cc vacuum line, as my (jdm) engine did not have a nipple for the IABs vacuum line.

My mechanic who has worked on Hondas for over a decade, and who is also an SCCA and SOLOII autox racer with over half-dozen CRXs told me this setup was very poor.

Initially the IABs have a strong vacuum pull to open them, however as the rpms increase and the vacuum decrease the IABs begin to close. So without the ECU to run my IABs I simply ziptied them open and its been fine. I noticed that the engine revs from 5-6700 with ZEST and even feels like it wants more.

And personally this is fine with me, as I'm not to worried about losing a little low-rpm trq or hp; this of course is to be expected from when you add an exhaust or intake that usually it will lose a few hp low-rpm but gain more higher-rpm power.

Well ya'll I've got an F22a6. I've also got I/H/E and I just recieved an H23 intake manifold in the mail. If I have time this summer I'll test the F22a6 set-up vs the F22/H23 set-up and report.

I'll try to test on days with similar conditions as far as humidity and temp, alt will not be an issue.

Both the H23 and the F22a6 will be run with the IAB's wired OPEN. This is because I do not have a p14 ECU to activate them (unless someone wants to send me one for this?)

They are on a vacuum controlled diaphram but the ECU also controls some aspect of the event because the ECU controls some "black box" on the back underside of the Intake Manifold.

BTW what is the diameter of the H23 TB as compared to the F22a6 TB?

so is it possible to run the secondaries (whats the proper name for those?) w/o the vacuum to you don't have to worry about the vacuum falling off and the valves closing?

I was running mine off of the nipple for the CC, because I have a JDM engine which did not have the nipple for the IABs.
Thats why mine were closing and why I wired them open.

so wait ok you're confusing the hell out of the noob now. I have an f22a1 and I'm going to put on an H23 IM. Does this engine have the proper nipple or what? When I install it, will I have a problem with the butterflies closing or will I be ok?
*EDIT* I guess IAB is the name of the secondaries but what does it stand for exactly? Intake Air Butterflies or something???

H23 Intake Manifold + p14 or I think the p06 ECU will actuate the IABs.
