I need a new oil pan for my F22A6 and was looking around on ebay and found this

Let me know what you guys think. Is this a decent performance oil pan because i know not alot of companies make decent performance oil pans for our cars. They wany about $190 for this. Is it a good deal? Here's the actual link to the ebay site.

That thing looks like its made out of aluminum foil. Dunno the quality might be good. Moroso makes an oil pan but its a lil pricier i think.

Personally, I've wondered the difference between the quality between Moroso and OBX because I can not physically tell a difference based on pictures and the hardware supplied even looks the same. Buy it and report back

that doesnt look like the OBX one that i saw a long time ago?

anyway, i dont remember where or when, but there was a thread comparing the OBX pan to the moroso, and the poster said it was a great reproduction and the welds all looked solid, and recommended the OBX piece :shrugs:

check that one out, I would think something stamped entirely out of one piece of metal would be stronger than something welded.

Better baffling, (looks like the OBX has a swinging baffle) and deeper (with a oil pickup extension) to keep the crank better separated from the oil.

Was your experience with this product on a cb7? And did you verify that the pan was indeed for a cb7 and not accidently shipped incorrectly? I have a hard time believing that they wouldnt even get the bolt locations correct.

just don't overtighen the oil drain bolt. being aluminum of course means it's softer than the OEM one made from mild steel. later.

Well I need to get an oilpan either way, the last owner screwed the threads up on the drain hole. Plus its cracked and leaking oil like crazy. I figured i would kill two birds with one stone and just buy a performance pan with better baffles and more capacity.

If you are actually racing with the car, 200 bucks for an oilpan that will give you a much greater chance of not starving the engine for oil seems like a great idea to me.

When you are in a left hand sweeper, or even just hard left hand turns, the oil has a tendancy to build up in the right side of the pan and starve the engine of oil especially if you are revving high. Its not a common problem, but definately something you dont want to experience. The baffles and deeper pan/extended pickup will keep more oil where its supposed to be (by the pickup) under braking/acceleration/cornering. If you need to replace the pan anyways, why not.

You can get a new one from Honda for 100 bucks, so if you are gonna utilize this one, why not give it a try. I think the moroso pans are about 350 which definately is way too much IMO.
