ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    interesting rocker/cam wear pattern

So, I was doing my spark plug tube seals along with a valve adjustment and valve cover reseal, and when I took the rocker carriers off the head I noticed this interesting wear pattern on the intake rockers for cylinder 4 (closest to the distributor). It seems to be not making full flat contact on the cam.

The car's already back together and I never noticed any issues with assembly or even that it was out of adjustment more than the other valves, and the wear on the cam wasn't bad. but is there something else to be adjusted to make it wear flatter?

Obviously it's been like this from the factory, and has lasted 125k miles without any issues- i'd guess now that it's "worn in" there's no point to fucking with it. But I'm just curious if anyone's seen this before in factory engines.

when was the last time the head was worked on?

there are two possible scenarios I would initially guess it may be,
    1. the rocker has worn a groove into the rod that it pivots on. wouldnt be noticable from the top really, might need to pull the rocker assembly off and inspect closer.
    2. less likely, but maybe the valve is bent and the pressure on the lifter is offset?

As far as I know, the only kind of head work ever done to this engine was a valve cover reseal. A valve cover reseal that, mind you, definitely didn't involve removing the cam carriers to get the spark plug tube orings based off how hard the old orings were, so i don't think it's any assembly error. The car only has 125k miles.

You can also still see the factory fly cut milling on the rocker face where it hasn't worn, so it makes me think it's been this way from the factory. Casting error on the rocker?

At any rate i may have the valve cover off again this coming weekend, I think my rtv job in one of the gasket corners wasn't smeared right and it may be seeping again. So i can look at it then. Thanks for the things to think about!
