ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Stuck in Sport Mode

I have a '90 Accord DX that keeps getting stuck in sports mode w/o hitting the button. The only way that I can get it out of this mode is by disconnecting the battery. At first, this would end the problem for a while, but now it immediately goes back. I have checked the ECU, but no code is given.

    Any thoughts?

What is sport mode, and from the sounds of it, it's a good thing? I'd rather be in sport mode then stock or limp, lol

is it making a buzzing noise around the console area while the break isn't depressed?

if this is the case, it might be the TCU... happened to mine earlier this year and had to get it replaced.
      My pictures/photos will return soon...

To be honest, I'm not totally sure of its purpose. From what I can tell, it allows you to hit higher RPM's before switching gears. The problem is, is that it takes effort to get started and as you try and hit 50mph, you hit 5500 RPM's. It's really bad when it goes in and out of while on the interstate giving you whiplash.

Not really....it vibrates a lot when slowing down.

I sounds like a good idea and is awesome if you can afford to lose a few MPG's. I only use it when I need a little bit more power for passing or racing.

before u check the ecu try checking the connection in the switch itself. see if its loose. if it is regular car vibration can cause it to touch and switch over again. something i would check first.

I have a 91 lx and my sports mode problem was similiar. It would flash at first I would pull the battery cable and bam perfect again. Each time I did not get codes. Then it was solid and would not reset. It finally gave 8 codes but when I took it the shop the tcu tested bad. My problem was my tcu. Take it to a shop and have test the tcu. If it is the tcu then becareful when you get a replacement I believe that 90-91 dx and lx are the same and a 92-93 will not work atleast that is what my Napa Electronic books said. good luck.

Yeah, everything that I can find points me to the TCU. How can I test that? Is this something that Autozone can typically test?

I've found a site that gives me some codes to look for, but I'm not sure where to get those codes from.

I don't believe they can. I had to take to a shop and pay 60 to get it tested. I hate going to the shop but that may be your only option unless you know someone who can swap you tcu' so you can check.

can someone tell me what the TCU is or where it's located?

                        thanks
