ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    new car need help

hey guys so my parents finally gave me the family car all for myself and i started to realize how many problems the car has. its a 1993 honda accord se coupe auto with about 140k on it and i began to notice that the accelration of the car has gotten a bit sluggish and it gets about 19 mpg regular with a mixture of highway/city driving . i was wonder what could be done to crank it back up , how much would a tune up be? and if i do get it what should be included in the tune up and how much should it run for me? and lastly is there anyway i could just do a tune up myself in my garage ? i mean wouldnt that save me some money
i was also wonder what kind of performance parts should i add into it, its completely stock and im willing to spend about 500 on aftermarket parts at this moment. any suggestions?

Hmm basically the first things that most of us started out with in the way of performance mods is Intake (either Short Ram or Full Cold Air Intake), Exhaust (headers, high flow cat, and Cat-back system). Exhaust systems are the most costly very easily over 500 alone. And about the tune up, Changing to a synthetic or synthetic high mileage oil, Upgraded spark plugs and spark plug wires. There is always a lot of discussion on here about what to start out with so I am sure you will get a lot of replies very quickly. Later

      ^^ very true

      spark plug/wires/distributor cap

      pretty important

id say if youre starting out fresh like this, give the car a once over

im talking if a crucial part is bad

i had to replace cv axles and some rubber boots for the joints and motor mounts as well

if you dont check now, you could be regreting it later

      welcome to the family

throw up some pics sometime lets see the auto

If you have some mechanical skills you could do the tune up yourself. Like they have stated before changing the oil to synthetic oil, some good spark plugs ( I use ngk plugs). You may want to change the wires, cap and distributor. Make sure that your motor mounts are good if not change them. As for performance parts a short ram intake, some headers, the performance wires, maybe a exhaust. Put up pics of your ride soon. Welcome to CB7tuner.

yup... they basically hit the nail on the head..get a good oil change, fuel filter(theres a DIY for it here), get new spark plugs (wires if they've never been changed), a intake if you want (ebay intakes are basically the same as the expensive brands)..and the best thing for gas mileage is dont mash the gas all the time...show love to your cb and it will show love back

if your burning oil, stay with regular oil. synthetic oil dosnt have impurities in it like real oil does, and its supposed to not burn but instead gum your shit up or something. i forget what it does but it isnt good.

                    thanks everybody

hey thanks everybody for your input! and welcoming me in! i've been trying to find a forum for information for my car for the longest time and stumble on this site thru hondahookup.com =] but anyways is there a diy for sparkplugs/wires? and yeah but after i took my car for a oil change back in december of 05 the mechcanic said i needed a coolant flush, was that the reason why my car sometimes smell like burnt oil/rubber? i havnt done that yet and that smell shows up tiem to time when i drive. but last time i got a oil change was 2,500 miles ago with moble one 10,000 miles i believe it was synthetic plus a new oem air filter .

but yeah soo besides the oil change and the air filter what esle do i need to add to my tune up list?

spark plugs? what brand is most durable?
                    wires?
                    coolant flush?
and what esle that im missing?
and if its possible for me to do the tune up myself with my newbie status in automechcanics =/
