ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Signs of frozen caliper bolt?

I think there is a frozen caliper bolt on my Mom's Odyseey. What happens is during the last few moments of braking before stopping, I can hear this sort of grinding noise comng from the left front brakes.

Ii think there are little metal clips on breaks that might make that noise when they are getting low, but if it is like a real hard grinding noise i would get them checked out.
Lois: Oh, I haven't been on a college campus in years. Everything seems so different.
Stewie: Really? Perhaps if you laid on your back with your ankles behind your ears that would ring a few bells.

if it were a frozen bolt or pinthat particular pad set would have uneven wear throughout the entire pad surface more likely to be on the majority of one side whether top or bottom bolt/pin

Plus the rim will be abnormally hot if the caliper was kinda locked up. We had that happen on a merc MLK320? Something like that one of the SUV turns out the piston was rusted in the housing.

It is not the chirp of the wear indicators. It sounds like the caliper is not moving right. I replaced the brakes back in June.

It kinda feels like the pad is getting stuck to the rotor.

ya...my accord calipre bolt actually froze too...what happens is like the guy said above, it will wear tremendously on one side at a large angle (like 1/4" different from top of pad to bottom). Then it might even wear to the metal of the pad beacuse it is wearing unevenly and not effectively and getting the bottom much faster.
it would be wise to take the calipre off and either get a new bolt or calipre...ideally before the disk is destroyed by the metal on metal braking.

Also, the grinding noise could just be the signal tab running on the disk

If a caliper slide pin/bolt seizes up you will get premature pad wear and it will wear awkwardly, usually not flat but cocked. Frozen caliper piston usually wears the the pads unevenly inside to out, but still remains flat.
