ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    cars smoking oh crap

i was just taking my gf home tonight and when i parked in the driveway i noticed smoke coming from under my hood. i turned the engine off and went to take a look. i couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from but it looked like it might have been somewhere near or under the fuel injection body. it was definitely infront of my engine and it seemed like it was coming from underneath. i have absolutely no idea what could be wrong because it's always ran like a champ for me. i just had a fuel change within the past week so i dunno if thats the problem. can't really describe the smell of the smoke. its night but it looks a little brown to me and maybe smelling like oil? i really don't know and this is not a good thing. i'm having a mechanic take a look at it tomorrow. what do you guys think could be wrong and how costly will it be to replace???

Smoke? I would go with a flashlight and check all my hoses and lines and look on block itself to see if you could tell where or what it was coming from.

well i've already been told by the mechanic that i'm going to need new radiator clamps and hoses soon if that could be what the problem is...

Thats not good was your temp gauge reading hot? It could be burning oil. If its around the fuel injectors could be a valve cover issue but I would get a light go around see wtf is up.

actually what the deal was is that i had a leak in the coolant lines and that was then burning onto my exhaust. put me back 350 bucks
thanks for the input though. i was getting really worried because i know anytime you see smoke/steam that can't be good...

Buy a decent ratchet set and a haynes manual. learn how to use a wrench and you will save your self a ton of money.

i can third that. i just repaired my car with the help of a friend. i bought a few craftsmans items and others, about 150 bucks worth of tools and i saved my self anywhere from 600-1200 bucks by replacing my rear front subframe, repairing cv boot, replacing, and radius arm. I ran into a curb going like 50mph,lol. To add to it, we learned quite a bit along the way. Next we are gonna save myself like 700-1000 bucks by doing my 5 spd swap. The good thing bout doing your own work is that the researching you spend on your car, you will know its done right and not half assed if you do it. plus you don't have to pay for labor. just your time and perhaps food or gas for your helping buddy or buddies.

I have the same issue ..When i am driving and after i park the car there is smoke coming from the engine bay .Today i checked and it is leaking some "green fluid" ..

                              Teories :

-Temprature gauge is fine, it goes to the middle which is normal

                              - Radiator definatly need to be replaced ,alot of holes and stuff ,but no direct leak from the radiator

                              - Lower radiator hose are cracked and when car is under pressure they leak

Its leaking and i did take a look with flashlight under my car,and i cant find the source of the leak, its is on the right side ..

What was the problem mike ??I think i have the exact same issue ..
Leakage in coolant lines ?Which coolant line and what did you replace,i will replacing my radiator next month ..and what else should i replace?
