ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Lowering 1993 Honda Accord with AWS

    Hi,

I just bought a 1993 Honda Accord (is that a CB7?) and no very little about it.

Im looking to buy a set of 17" x 7" wheels and tyres for it, and was wondering if anyone can tell me about lowering it 2"? It is the AWS model, and Im not even sure if it can be done with AWS.

If you know a bit about this model, and lowering it, please let me know. Or if cant be done with AWS, are there any options to disconnect the AWS, or alternatively what would need to be changed / swapped etc and how much would it cost roughly?

    Thanks heaps

pm UK - Accord ...he's got an AWS i believe...

I don't know if u should try unhooking the AWS system...cost? probably more than its worth. imo

U should be able to fit the wheels as long as they are no wider than 205mm...and if ur wheel offset is somewhat reasonable...

so try 205/45-17 or 205/40-17 tires on 17x7 or 17x6.5 wheels...ur tire diameter shouldn't change much.
Lower it on some Eibach springs and tokico HP's, they should settle around a 2" drop.

    enjoy the build.

I dont think it should be a problem with a 2" drop.

UKAccord has the AWS model and hes lowered on aftermarket wheels with no problem.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'll talk to UKAccord about his AWS Accord, he might have some tips. The wheels I want are 17" x 7" with 205/45/17 tyres so hopefully I shouldnt have too many problems. I would like to drop it maybe 2.5" but I'll have to find out a bit more, but from what I understand, the back wheels only turn at low speeds when the front wheels are turned at full lock, and they only turn about an inch, which shouldnt make too much difference around the guards and inside the wheel wells.

Thanks again everyone, I'll post some pics soon!

I just got my CB7 last month and recently lowered it with TEIN S-Tech springs. The drop is about 1.7 and should be ok on the AWS. BTW I thought that the AWS was only available on the early model Prelude?

Im from Australia, mine is a 1993 Honda Accord EXi that came with power everything, sunroof, leather interior, and AWS. It is not a second-hand import, they were available new like this. Its funny but I never really thought that the versions they released would be so different across the different countries! Very cool, I wonder what else is different? Did any other countries come out with turbo's as stock on their CB7's? We didnt have any as stock. Im totally new at this, so Im going to spend some time going through the different forums to see what else I can find out about these cars.

                      Cheers

As a general rule, the US Accords didn't get much for extras and fancy stuff. Which is too bad.
