ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    changes after T-Belt job

So a few weeks ago i replaces my water pump, t-belt, and balancer belt.

I did it with my uncle.

I've noticed a few changes in the behaviour of my car:

    1) some vibrations have started. I can feel them through the pedals, and they shake my rear-view, and make other plasticy things vibrate. it's not actually that bad, it's just very noticable after i drive my dad's CB7 around

    2) (this might be linked to the vibrations) This is very vague and stupid sounding, I know, but I keep on hearing these kinda clicking noises coming from the dash area. it's like it's settling or something....

    3) At around 1400 rpms-ish there's a funky low vibrating noise that comes from the timing belt side of the engine (one of the bolts broke off the t-belt cover, so i figure it might be rattling around...or something else).

I'm thinking the vibrations might have something to do with my motor mounts, even though they seemed fine when we did the job.

The "Clicking" noises i mentioned i'm completely at a loss for what might have started them.

Throw out any ideas you guys might have! I really appreciate all and any of the help!

*Sorry for my long, vague, car illiterate posts*

Balance shaft. If its off by even a single tooth then you'll have all sorts of problems. Its easy enough to align properly, but it'll take removing the timing belt again.

Be sure you have the motor mount on properly at the front of the engine (belt end of the engine). If you didn't support your engine (floor jack for example) when you remove the mount and the rest of your mounts are shot, then your engine may be sagging, even if you put you think you put your mount back in properly. A torn mount is easy to see; just pull aside the rubber and look in the mount.

kk, i kinda thought it mighta been the balancer shaft, but i'm not that game on taking the timing belt etc off. that's something i don't know if i could do on my own.

now, correct me if i'm wrong, but the balancer shaft is occasionally removed entirely. no? but would it be causing any heinous damage by being off by a tooth or two?

btw, the engine doesnt seem to want to rev as freely as it did before, but that might just be in my head because of the vibrations. also, i dont notice it so much anymore, but when i was first driving it around i noticed that the engine sounded different, a lower note kinda.

      thanks for the tips!

Sure, people occassionally remove the balance shafts but if you have them in the engine and they are out of time (which is most likely the vibration) they will vibrate. Done hundreds of these belts and its easy to get it out of time, especially if you are not paying attention to the timing points.

okay, i figured it was my balancer belt timing.

but anyway, will it cause baaad stuff by it being in there, and running, out of time?
